Executive Summary

We investigated the feasibility of five brands of men's body wash: Nivea, Dove, Axe, Irish Spring, and Old Spice. Because Old Spice had the best smell, good bottle design, had an ok price and value, and had the largest volume of suds, we have determined that Old Spice Body Was is the best body wash.

Introduction

We use body wash to clean ourselves and to smell good. Because as college students, we also have to take money into account when we buy body wash. We also want to smell good to girls as well. We also want soap that suds up a lot because you do not need as much soap because of it. We chose 5 popular brands of body wash to evaluate:

In this report that follows, we will examine each of these options and recommend the best option for low income student to purchase good smelling body wash with good value.

We chose five popular brands of men's body wash to evaluate:

To determine which men's body is the best, we evaluated each using the following criteria:

Smell Bottle Design Price Value Suds Volume

We gathered information about smell and bottle design through a survey of girls who go to the University of North Texas.

To conduct the survey we:

1. We concealed the brand of each bottle with duct tape. 2. We put a small sample of the body was in a cup to do the smell test to make sure they

did not associate one wash with a particular brand or bottle. 3. Asked the participants to rank the smell of each sample from 1-5, 1 being the best

smelling, 5 being the worst smelling.

4. Asked the participants to rank the design of each bottle from 1-5, 1 being the best design, 5 being the worst design.

We evaluated the results of the survey through a point system. We calculated the number of worst smelling, bad smelling, ok smelling, good smelling, and best smelling for each soap and gave each a number of point to each; worst 1 point, bad 2 points, ok 3 points, good 4 points, best 5 points. We added the points for each brand then evaluated which one was the best through the worst, then gave a number of stars to each of those based on their ranking; most points getting 5 stars, through lest points getting 1 star. The same point and star ranking system was used for the bottle design survey.

To evaluate Price and Value for each body wash we did calculation based on the price and bottle size.

We ranked the price of each bottle based on the sales price of the body wash. We gave 5 stars to the best priced, 3 to the worse price (there was a three way tie).

We ranked the value of wash body was based on the price of the bottle compared to the size of the bottle. We gave 5 stars to the best valued wash, 2 to the worse valued wash

To evaluate the volume of suds for each of the body washes, we took ? a teaspoon of each and rubbed it in our hands 20 times. We took a picture of the suds in our hands then compared the pictures to see which had the most to the least volume of suds. The most we gave 5 points through the least we gave 1 point.

Results

Our group evaluated five different body soaps to find which the best is. We evaluated Dove, Nivea, Old Spice, Irish Spring and Axe body washes. We determined the best body washes by smell, body design, price, value and volume of suds.

Smell-We surveyed 15 people and had the five different kinds of soaps and had each individual smell them.

Body Design- We surveyed 15 people strictly on the design of the soap bottle. These were the results of the 5 different body washes were.

Price- This section includes the price of the bottle and of course the cheaper the bottle the greater amount of the stars. This doesn't include value of what you're buying, just price upfront.

Value-The value of the body wash was to just measure how much product you are getting for the money. We used simple mathematics and divided the price per bottle by volume to determine how much money you spend on soap per oz.

Volume of Suds- We tested this by rubbing soap and water 15 times with our hands, and evaluated how many bubbles there were. These were the results we came up with.

Conclusion

Out of the 5 body washes we used (Nivea, Dove, Axe, Irish Spring and Old spice) they all had some advantages and disadvantages throughout our testing. Dove was the cheapest out of all of them but it produced the lowest amount of suds. Whereas Nivea was last on the smell test and had a bottle that no one really liked much but it was the number one choice on the price rating. Axe had tons of support when it came to the smell and design of the bottle but came in last on the volume of suds and price of the bottle. Irish Spring was neck and neck with Axe but when it came down to the important things like smell and bottle design it did not get a lot of votes in that area. According to our graphs based on the categories of smell, bottle design, volume of suds, price and value a 5 star scale helped us come to the conclusion that Old Spice is the best body wash to use for males. It was top 3 in each category being number 1 in most.

Recommendation

Based off of the 5 star scale of the categories (smell, price per bottle, bottle design and the volume of suds) Old Spice was a 5 star product concerning those areas and was well liked by our testers, we highly recommend males to use Old Spice body wash. Since this was based on 15 females being survey, we recommended this body wash even more for males to use if they want to attract the ladies.
