Mobile Phone Free School

We are a mobile phone free school from the moment a student enters the school gates, until the end of the school day. Since implementing the policy, we have seen a significant decrease in the number of social media related incidents during school hours. Also, when surveyed 61% of students accepted that social media could have a detrimental impact on someone's mental wellbeing. Freeing students of the constant pressure of social media, and the negative impact that mobile devices can have within a classroom is something we, as a school, feel is in our students' best interests. A London School of Economics study found that; "A highly multipurpose technology, such as mobile phones, can have a negative impact on productivity through distraction. Schools that restrict access to mobile phones subsequently experience an improvement in test scores."
