Two Santa Ana College Students Selected for All-California Academic Team

(Santa Ana) -- Two Santa Ana College (SAC) students, Isaac Lee Finch and Blanca Estela Morales, were chosen to be a part of the All-California Academic Team Program, which provides recognition at the state level for top community college students. An award ceremony, sponsored by the Community College League of California, was held for the students last week at the Sacramento Hyatt Regency, where each First and Second Team member received a medallion of honor, a certificate, and a cash stipend.

Morales was one of the 29 students selected for the First Team and one of four from Orange County colleges. Finch was one of the 26 students selected for the Second Team and one of two from Orange County colleges. The students were selected for the All-California First and Second Teams based on grades, leadership, and community service. The nominees received scores from Phi Theta Kappa judges at the national level, selecting members for the national academic teams. About 1.7 million students are enrolled in 109 California community colleges and these 55 students are among the best.

Morales is a biology major with a 4.0 G.P.A. She was the first person in her family to graduate high school and wants to be the first to graduate college. Morales feels that an education is the pathway to accomplishing her goals. Her dream is to employ science in order to aid those with physical complications.

“As a physician, I will return to the community that saw me grow up, that has instilled in me the desire to pursue a life goal, and that is helping me learn about life,” said Morales.
