BSC J-CAP S265 Week 4Project: Global Awareness Assessment:Bryant Stratton CollegeStudent: Egbert BatchelorInstructor: Dennis AmoDate: 05/27/2018J-CAP S265: Global Awareness Assessment:My expectations of the Credit Adjunct Teaching Position Northampton Community College, PA:Community College Research:Northampton Community College, a community college, which has campuses in Bethlehem Township of Northampton County, Pennsylvania, USA. This college purports to be uncommonly affordable, having “open enrollment” accommodating of high school completion. Besides, it is an educational institution to provide workforce education and educational readiness for secondary and post-secondary, even for college transfer to students’ academic programs. (, n. d.)Whereas community colleges provide education for a fraction of the costs when compared to their counterparts, community colleges in Pennsylvania ranked #44 in the country for methodology. (Grace Chen 2018, August 21). How is a college assessed for methodology? In a recent survey about methodology in America, “a state-by-state analysis, we calculated a weighted average of the scores earned by the community colleges in each state and the number of students enrolled in each school. The state with the highest average corresponds with a rank of No. 1, or the best community-college system”. (Bernardo, Richie. 2017, Aug 21)Personal assessment as to my qualification for the position:Community college mandates a continued high excellence in student education diligence; far above the average trajectory of student reporting in the Commonwealth State [Pennsylvania]. This mandates that I must possess the attributes that convey strong implications about the facilitative deliveries of those outcomes, in employment to this position. My diligence in regard to securement of this job:Attributes to convey such strength are credentials and specific accreditations, critical thinking, facilitative learning delivery in specific field of learning, effective problem-solver techniques, proven success in prior experience[s], team-player propensities, and transferable skills.Five questions I would ask, or I am likely to ask of the interviewer[s] are;Where do Northampton Community College plan to be in the next 5–10 academic periods from today? What is the most pressing thing you must change about this college in the next 12-24 months and what qualities would best suit your needs to achieve those objectives?Would you be most comfortable working with me if I have a commitment to use my strong attributes to improve the nationwide methodology ranking of this college? Is it of great significance to use my people and transferrable skills to influence a great behavioral trend and opinion sets of your students, in regard to getting them to achieve robust career goals?I would love to inspire your students to supersede the standards of other students in this Commonwealth State of Pennsylvania (against other states) and to set new standards in excellence. Would you agree that this is a paramount objective and can we collaborate on achieving that possibility?Adjunct Paralegal position: advertised! is a link for a Paralegal Teaching position at Northampton Community College, PA: descriptions!Credit adjunct teaching positions in this College’s Paralegal program are for prospects who must be competent to teach in at least one of the subject areas: such as Estates and Trusts, Family Law, Tort Law, Litigation, Business Organizations, Criminal Law, Contracts, Legal Research and Writing and Real Estate Law. (ABA, 2017, Dec 5). Reflections:(1). Summarize how your personal identity, past and present affect your beliefs about others.I plan to be a Law practitioner, in the near future. I am a self-motivated person, resilient, having a team-leader construct, and relentlessly driven to accomplish any goal I feel is inclusive of my own life-mandate. Nothing is too difficult a task for me! Personally, I have a defined personality that enjoys producing pristine writing and research work. I love to delve in law-oriented material and I believe in subscribing to excellence, always. The trajectory of law fascinates me as investigative - requiring critical thinking, even as I consider the thought processes behind each enactment and statute. Interestingly, I will peruse the perplexing issues of law because they evoke mixed feeling about either the pros and cons or to uncover both sides of the same issue under consideration. No doubt, I equally intrigued at the best minds, which are drawn to legislature, litigation and the practice of law. The learning paradigm of others are equally important as I consider my own learning.In. the pastPolitical bias and party preferences were unfounded biases I adopted without much diligence as to what and why about these belief [political] philosophies on which to base and form my construct. Historically, I had an unfounded conviction about attorneys [too] because I believe that all attorneys can practice in all areas of law, very well. As an original native of the Island Jamaica (now American citizen), I was never cultured with racial prejudice as American communities do. Rather, I was indoctrinated on class and socio-economic prejudices. This means that the offspring of a bank manager of judge cannot copulate with those of a regular or common man. Other biases were, intolerance for members of LGBT communities in terms of their lifestyles, or regarding as weak - folks who are addicted to drug and alcohol, and ex-convicts from the penal system living in a community after serving time for a crime. Such biases were largely stupidity, exaggerations, warped beliefs and unfounded views of others. Presently, Notwithstanding, I still hold strict beliefs about the LGBT community that purports a liberality in same sex marriages but respect their free to do whatever they want to do, or how to live. Hence, I believe I cannot do my best until I am able to help others to do their best efforts.(2). Summarize your own biases BEFORE and AFTER the interview was conducted:The context of [my] biases is that they mirror my derived beliefs in terms of definitive meaning and applicability. Bias, according to ?is a tendency to lean in a certain direction, often to the detriment of an open mind. Those who are biased tend to believe what they want to believe, refusing to take into consideration the opinions of others. Bias?is an inclination toward one way of thinking, often based on how you were raised. (, 2018)?Furthermore, the meaningless descriptive continues that Bias, prejudice, and discrimination all live under the same roof. Bias is an inclination toward one way of thinking, often based on how you were raised. For example, in one of the most high-profile trials of the 20th century O.J. Simpson was acquitted of murder, but many people will remain biased toward him and treat him like a convicted killer anyway. (, 2018)Owing to the fact that I was brought up with strict acceptance for others, my general construct about life veered towards all ethnic tolerance, hastily. However, in consideration that my religion was not accommodating to homosexual orientation, I have not agreed to give inclusion to their lifestyle as normal for man-to-man or woman-woman marital modules. Therefore, my prejudices are subjective towards another person, solely on their affiliation with a group but will accept their academic ability to deliver. There were other changed biases I have had that are commercials or NEWS driven but I have changed on those, too. I believe community colleges can deliver excellent education and it is entirely up to the diligence of the student, predominantly. I am against unfair stereotypical treatments of marginalized citizens on the basis of color, sex and religion. I have seen Caucasians judged as mentally incapable while blacks are just crazy, for similarly committed crimes. Discriminations, as I see them come into play when someone starts acting upon inherent prejudice they possess. This could the unconscionable enslavement of men and women held against their will for no judicious reasons, some were African Americans, and others were segregated and other criminal and heinous civil acts. (, 2018). I have changed how I view LGBT community in terms of their educational abilities because I think it is only fair to assess an individual on merit for a task and their apt to deliver a finished work. (3). Summarize strategies to overcome and prevent our biases from affecting our interactions with other in the workplace.Avoiding or abstaining from resolving biases are crucial misgivings of civility, considering that bias in personal and influences ones professional settings to even muddy the waters of an open mind. We will continue to see bias sprout up until people choose to cast a shadow over preconceived notions planted in their minds and shine some light on thoughtful explanations from someone else. (, 2018).Worst of all, the media is supposed to deliver unbiased news to its audiences so they can form their own opinions. It's clear this doesn't happen today, nor has it for quite some time. A good professor will tell students to ingest daily doses of media with a discerning pair of eyes. Choose what to believe and what not do believe. But, most of all, always remain open to the opinion of someone standing on the other side of your fence.
