The department has the latest equipment for fighting fires and responding to emergencies. It has a fire insurance rating of six, which is the best rating for a volunteer department. The fire department has six fire trucks including one rescue, two pumpers, two tankers and one grass unit. Mutual aid agreements exist between the cities of Houston, Lanesboro, Lewiston and Wilson Fire Departments. Excellent rescue and ambulance services is also available. The city has two ambulance vehicles and twelve trained medical emergency technicians. Fast access to Medivac Emergency Helicopter service is available out of LaCrosse, Wisconsin and Rochester, Minnesota.Police:SYMBOL 183 \f "Symbol" \s 10 \hThe city has two full-time officers and one part-time police officer. Cellular phone service is well covered in the area with cellular towers in Fremont and Caledonia. ................
