Please read the LIMITED HEALTH GUARANTEE and attachments in full before signing. In the event of a dispute regarding the animal being transferred (hereinafter referred to as “Puppy” or “Animal”), Karen Christian (hereinafter referred to as “Breeder” or “Seller”) will adhere to the terms of this contract as written.

I, (name of purchaser) _____________________________ (hereinafter referred to as “Buyer”), understand that Breeder is not responsible for any vet bills once I leave the breeder’s property, veterinary clinic, or meeting address with my puppy. For puppies being shipped, once Puppy has been signed in at the airport, Breeder is no longer responsible for any puppy left in the custody of an airline.

I also understand Coccidia and/or Giardia, kennel cough, pneumonia, hypoglycemia, and other stress-related illnesses may occur in my puppy from the stress of the move or flight to my home, and I am solely responsible for any vet bills incurred as a result.

I understand that puppies may develop "Parvo" (canine parvovirus), a deadly disease. I understand that Puppy has been vaccinated for Parvo and every measure has been taken to protect my puppy from this virus. I understand that Parvo is in the environment and if this puppy still contracts Parvo despite being vaccinated Breeder is not responsible for any vet bills or for the death of this puppy resulting from said disease.

I understand I should not take my puppy to any areas where dogs are walked or expose my puppy to other dogs whose vaccinations are not up to date, including off-leash areas, pet stores, vet clinic floors and parking lots, or near the feces of other dogs until at least two weeks after his/her six-month booster is completed, as this kind of exposure could transmit Parvo to my puppy.

I understand that while grade 1 & 2 heart murmurs are a congenital health defect they are excluded for refund or replacement under this LIMITED HEALTH GUARANTEE because there is a high probability the puppy will outgrow these conditions.

I, as a consumer, understand that the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier breed is generally a long-lived breed. They are susceptible to various heritable diseases, although they are most known for two protein-wasting conditions.

Five diseases not guaranteed against by this LIMITED HEALTH GUARANTEE are:

1) Protein-losing Nephropathy (PLN), in which the dog loses protein via the kidneys; and protein-losing enteropathy (PLE), in which the dog fails to fully absorb protein in their digestive tract causing it to pass in their stool. Both PLN and PLE are potentially fatal but, if caught early enough, can sometimes be managed with strict dietary changes and pharmaceuticals.

2) Renal dysplasia, inflammatory bowel disease

3) Addison's disease

4) Cancer

Some Wheatens can suffer from 5) food and environmental allergies. The Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers are prone to developing a skin disease called atopic dermatitis.

I understand that this puppy is guaranteed until one year of age against life-altering and non-treatable congenital disease resulting in fatality or adversely affecting the health of the animal. This includes severe hip dysplasia that hampers the dog's movement and natural gate and requires surgery to correct, kidney, heart, pancreas, spine, and liver problems of a severe life-threatening and altering nature. If this dog dies within this one-year time frame, Buyer will pay to have it autopsied to ascertain the reason. If the cause of death is congenital, Breeder will replace the puppy. This guarantee does not cover what in some breeds is considered normal: cherry eye; entropion; "loose" hips; skin allergies; elongated soft palate; teeth alignment; umbilical or inguinal hernias ,bite alignment; anything cosmetic; seizures; coat texture; size of dog; training abilities; temperament; refusal to eat, nipping, cancer, slipping patellas occurring later on in growth; seizures;bladder infections;poisoning; biting of electrical cords; consumption of prescription or non-prescription drugs, antifreeze, toxic plants, or vitamins; ingestion of any substance toxic to animals, including spoiled or contaminated food and bones as well as household and non-food objects.

Seller (and seller’s agent, if applicable) will not be responsible for any medical expenses incurred at any time. Buyer is aware that owning a puppy requires trips to the veterinarian and understands that he/she will be responsible for all payments to the vet. Buyer also understands that, prior to transfer, Puppy has been treated with Baycox®, has been dewormed regularly since two weeks of age, and has received proper and appropriate vaccinations to date. The buyer has been informed of these and must retain records from a licensed veterinarian of continued care for the first full year or this LIMITED HEALTH GUARANTEE is null and void. This guarantee does not include Coccidia, Giardia and kennel cough, which are common in puppies and are caused by bacteria, protozoa and viruses.

A puppy diagnosed by two unassociated Veterinarians with any serious genetic or congenital defect in the first year of life will be replaced as follows:

Animal must show the defect by one year of age. Seller must be notified of the problem within two (2) business days of the licensed veterinarian's determination and have two reports from two unassociated veterinarians stating the same problem, and seller will provide a replacement puppy of equivalent value.

All medical information, full disclosure, must be sent to Breeder’s vet at the Wetaskiwin Animal Clinic for review and assessment.

A puppy with a defect must be returned at Buyer’s expense or with the prior permission of the seller or euthanized to qualify for a replacement puppy. No refund, in part or in full, will be given. A returned puppy must be returned to the seller in good condition, other than the specified problem, at the buyer’s expense. If the animal is euthanized, documentation from the euthanizing veterinarian regarding the puppy's condition and reason(s) for euthanizing must be provided to the breeder. The buyer will then qualify for a replacement puppy, which will be provided by Breeder out of her next available litter with return of the said puppy to Breeder. Buyer is responsible for transportation costs to and from the breeder’s location for replacement puppy. This guarantee applies to the original buyer only and is not transferable to a second party. No replacement puppy will be given if the puppy has been bred or euthanized without the seller’s permission.

The replacement puppy will be mutually agreed upon by both parties and will be of comparable quality. Buyer understands that the replacement puppy may not be from the exact same parents of original puppy.

There are certain disorders that may be caused by environmental factors, for example: allergies, thyroid dysfunction, demodectic mange, and other autoimmune disorders such as idiopathic seizures that are not covered by this guarantee. Any physical problem which is or could be the result of injury is not covered under this guarantee.

There is no guarantee or warranty that the Buyer will be able to show or breed the puppy regardless of show or breeding potentials. Puppy has been sold only as a companion animal and this guarantee covers only that use.

The parentage/pedigree is correct to the best of the Seller’s knowledge. The buyer agrees not to hold Seller responsible in any manner in the unlikely even that a problem might arise from the puppy’s parentage. This contract supersedes any and all previous agreements.

This contract is null and void if the terms and conditions are not fulfilled.

Buyer understands that if he/she is no longer able to care for or no longer wants the puppy/dog, it must be returned to Karen Christian. Karen Christian will then screen for a potential good home for puppy and buyer will be paid back for the highest price able to re-home Puppy, less a $10 (ten dollar) boarding fee to Breeder (Karen Christian). Please make sure you know you are not allergic before taking your puppy home, as this is very hard on the family and the puppy being re-homed. No other expenses like food or veterinary care prior to return of the puppy to Seller will be refunded to Buyer by Seller.

In the event of death, an autopsy report shall be performed at Buyer's expense to determine the congenital defect, if any, and cause of death. The report must be provided before a replacement pup is given. The breeder is not responsible for any vet charges or fees in diagnosing or treating any illness or genetic defect. Breeder is not responsible to replace a puppy for any of the following reasons: poisoning; biting of electrical cords; consumption of prescription or non-prescription drugs, antifreeze, toxic plants, or vitamins; ingestion of any substance toxic to animals, including spoiled or contaminated food and bones as well as household and non-food objects (e.g., lawn chemicals can cause seizures in puppies); eating of bones or rawhides; neglect; idiopathic seizures; or abuse.

If your veterinarian or mine determines that the sickness of death was caused by a hypoglycemic attack brought on by lack of proper care then no refund in full or in part will be given. There will be no replacement pup given if the death was the result of abuse, neglect or accident.

This dog is warranted only for the purpose of a companion animal. There is no warranty given as to its fitness for any special purpose outside of this. Any failure by the Buyer to complete the puppy’s vaccines by the due date will make this guarantee null and void.

This contract is written for the protection of the breeder, the buyer, the agent, and the puppy. To the best of the breeder’s knowledge the puppy is in good health at the time of sale.
