ENTERPRISE RENT-A-CAR NAMED ONE OF NATION’S BEST ENTRY-LEVEL JOBS FOR COLLEGE GRADS TO LAUNCH THEIR CAREERS

Good news for the more than 6,500 new hires slated to join the company this year.

ST. LOUIS, September 1, 2004 – Enterprise Rent-A-Car, North America’s largest rental car company, recently received recognition as a premier employer in The Princeton Review’s Best Entry-Level Jobs: Paying Your Dues Without Losing Your Mind . The company was one of 66 employers recommended by the book.

The book describes Enterprise – which hires more college graduates than any other U.S. company – as a great place to begin your working life and “even build a career.”

This year alone, Enterprise plans to hire 6,500 hundred new employees due to the company’s continued growth and consumer demand at its more than 5,300 neighborhood and airport locations. Many of these will be recent college graduates who will begin their careers in the company’s Management Training Program, where nearly 100 percent of its operational employees get their start.

"Enterprise has a continual need for college educated individuals to join our management training program which teaches the business from the ground up with a strong focus on building exceptional customer service skills," said Marie Artim, Enterprise's assistant vice president, recruiting. "Our company’s business model provides a solid foundation in business operations and true entrepreneurship that appeals to many graduates.”

Best Entry-Level Jobs highlights the fact that, after participating in the company’s management training program, “employees at Enterprise have the opportunity to essentially run their own business … Every employee serving customers at the front counter is quietly learning the ins and outs of the business world, including profit-and-loss statements, controlling expenses, and implementing a comprehensive business plan.” According to the book, employees also reap the rewards of a local branch’s success as “managers receive a base salary plus a percentage of profits from their operation, and they have the potential to earn a lot more by driving the growth and increasing the profitability of their operation.”

o “The chance for advancement and a solid, well-nurtured sense of community combine to make Enterprise a great place to begin your working life and perhaps even build a career.”

o “Employees agree that ‘the best perk is the opportunity to be promoted based on performance.’”

o “’Normally, employees who successfully complete this [management] training program can expect to become assistant managers after one year. The next step is to become a branch manager. They typically attain that level two to two-and-a-half years after joining Enterprise .’”

o “’ Enterprise understands the importance of continuous employee development. Every employee undergoes some type of formal training at least once a month.’”

Co-authored by Ron Lieber and Tom Meltzer, Best Entry Level Jobs is based on hundreds of candid interviews with recent grads and young professionals about their actual experiences at entry-level jobs, and of company HR officers and managers. Say Lieber and Meltzer of their criteria for choosing the companies or organizations in the book, “We wanted to find places where people were happy, engaged with their work, nicely compensated, well positioned for advancement, getting great preparation for graduate school, doing really interesting stuff, or any combination of these things.”

Best Entry-Level Jobs is one of over 200 books developed by The Princeton Review in a line published by Random House Inc. Known for its books, test-prep courses, website, and other education services, The Princeton Review is not affiliated with Princeton   University or ETS.
