She is starting a formation complémentaire in Medical Complications with a Master Degree in Epidemiology at McGill.Dr NingZi Sun has been recruited to our division at the MUHC. She is starting her formation complémentaire with a Master Degree in Medical Education at Maastricht University. She is the deserving recipient of the Jonathan Campbell Meakins and family fellowship.Dr Jeff Segal has been recruited to our division at St-Mary’s. He is starting his formation complémentaire at Maisonneuve Rosemont in Pre-op Medicine.Drs Tierry Toledano, Charith Sairam and André Roy have been recruited at Lachine.Dr Blair Schwartz is starting a Master of Public Health at John Hopkins in a few weeks. Our division shined again at the 2012 Department of Medicine Award Ceremony! Outreach Award: Dr Suzanne DubéThe Douglas G. Kinnear Award: Dr Todd LeePhysician-in-Chief Award for Special Service to the Department: Dr Ewa Sidorowicz2. Dr David Hornstein has won the Best Teacher Award of the Department of Critical Care.3. Dr Michelle Elizov received the JGH Auxiliary - Department of Medicine Academic Enrichment Award of $3,500.00. She has also been named as the Richard and Sylvia Cruess Faculty Scholar in Medical Education for 2012-2013. 4. Dr Stella Daskalopoulou received an Operating Grant from FRSQ, a Research Grant from Canadian Foundation for Women’s Health and an Academic Enrichment Fund from the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology for the project “valeuR predictive de la rigidité artériElle dans le déVEloppement de lA pré-écLampsie (REVEAL)". 5. Dr Kaberi Dasgupta (PI) has received funding from Heart and Stroke Foundation (3 years, $20,000/year) for the study “Novel Real-Time Measurement of Physical Activity Patterns in Type 2 Diabetes and Hypertension through GPS Monitoring and Accelerometry”. The work will be led by PhD candidate S Hajna (supervised by K Dasgupta and N Ross) who has also been awarded a CIHR doctoral award. Dr Dasgupta has also received an operating grant from the Canadian Diabetes Association for the study “Gestational Diabetes- A diabetes risk indicator in father and child?” and a Junior 2 award from FRSQ.7. Dr Louise Pilote (PI) and post-doc fellow Dr Meytal Avgil Tsadok received a?Catalyst Grant (Post Market Drug Safety & Effectiveness in Underrepresented Pop)?from the CIHR for the project “A population based study of adherence to atrial fibrillation therapies”. 8. The paper entitled “Sex Differences in Stroke?Risk?among?Older?Patients?with?Recently Diagnosed?Atrial Fibrillation” by Meytal Avgil Tsadok, Cynthia A. Jackevicius, Elham Rahme, Karin H. Humphries, Hassan Behlouli, Louise Pilote was?published in JAMA on 9 May 2012 (JAMA 2012;307(18)1952-8).Division UpdatesDr Lucie Opatrny has taken on a new position at St-Mary’s as the new Director of Professional Services. We wish Lucie best of success in this new position.Drs Todd Lee and Patrick Willemot will be co-directors of the GIM clinic for 2012-2013. Dr Lee will take over as one45 head evaluator and liaison with all teaching offices for the RVH GIMCS. Dr Willemot will continue being involved in the curriculum development aspect of GIMCS.Dr Khue Ly is starting in July 2012 after completing a vascular medicine fellowship. She will join the vascular health unit at the MGH and work as a clinician scholar in our division.
