World’s best footballer chooses Javier Pascual Mullor as winner
of miadidas design contest
Herzogenaurach, Germany - December 2012 – Record breaking goalscorer Leo Messi will wear a fan-designed pair of adidas adizero™ f50s when he takes to the field against Atlético Madrid this weekend.
In a global first, fans of the world’s best footballer were given the unique opportunity earlier this year to create a pair of adidas adizero™ f50s by visiting the new miadidas configurator at and submitting their designs. The miadidas configurator is a service allowing footballers to “Create Your Own” design and incorporate colour schemes and personal touches.
The contest began with a call to action video on Messi’s own Facebook page encouraging fans from selected miadidas markets to submit their customisations. Budding designers were then given one week to submit their creations at which point the winning entry was chosen by Leo himself. Javier Pascual Mullor from Spain was identified as the lucky winner from over 14,200 submitted entries and Javier’s dream boot will be worn by the player this Sunday (16th December). 14 additional ‘runners up’ have also been identified by Messi and will be rewarded with miadidas vouchers.

Messi’s chosen f50 design comprises of a ‘running white’ upper, with black outsole / sprintframe & laces and ‘vivid red’ heel, tongue and iconic adidas three-stripe. Javier’s original design template was taken and adapted to the new f50 boot which launched in November 2012 and the final design was complemented by Leo’s usual boot customisations including the Messi Icon logo, Argentinian flag, ‘Leo 10’ and acknowledgement to his newborn son Thiago.
Speaking about his chosen boot design Messi said: “I am happy with the miadidas boots and want to congratulate Javier on designing the winning ones that I will wear Sunday against Atlético Madrid. I also want to thank everyone who sent in their designs, they were all really good!”

Messi’s much anticipated miadidas appearance follows on from the hugely popular miadidas “Next Gen Weekend”, which involved seven top adidas players from clubs throughout Europe wearing uniquely designed miadidas boots on field during November. Highlights of these player appearances included Oscar’s long-range volley for Chelsea against Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League™ and goals from Riccardo Montolivo, Lukas Podolski and Thomas Müller during their respective domestic league fixtures.
