Welcome to worry-free motoring

With the Motability Scheme you can simply exchange all, or part of your mobility allowance, to lease a brand new car. You can enjoy worry-free, affordable motoring as you'll have the freedom and reassurance of a new car with none of the worries associated with buying and running an older one. In this guide you'll find just a small selection of cars, grouped by car type and manufacturer. The full list of cars is available at motability.co.uk.

Simple, all-inclusive leasing

Every lease is all-inclusive, which means everything listed below is included in the price you pay. So the only running cost for your brand new car is fuel.

Insurance cover from RSA Motability

Servicing and maintenance

Many adaptations at no extra cost

Full breakdown assistance

Up to two named drivers

Tyre replacement, windscreen repair and MOTs

Support from our dedicated UK based Customer Services team

Are you eligible?

If you receive one of the following allowances and have at least 12 months' award remaining you can apply to lease through the Motability Scheme, even if your award does not cover the full length of the lease: The Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component

of Personal Independence Payment (?61.20 per week as of 8 April 2019) Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (?61.20 per week as of 10 April 2019) War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (?68.35 per week as of 10 April 2019) Armed Forces Independence Payment (Mobility element ?61.20 per week as of 10 April 2019)

Allowances are awarded by either the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) or Veterans UK. If your allowance is due to end during your lease, you just need to make sure that the allowance is renewed with the DWP. However, if your award is not renewed, for whatever reason, you just hand the car back ? you won't be liable for any additional costs.

This Car Price Guide is updated regularly

The prices in this guide are for applications submitted through a Motability Scheme dealership between 1 July to 30 September 2019 and are updated every three months. We offer a firm `price guarantee', which means the price confirmed when your order is accepted is the price you pay when you collect your car.

Suitability: Which type of car suits your needs?

The first thing you should think about is what you need from a car. What are the things you are going to be doing and what type of car best meets those needs? Here are a few things for you to consider before choosing your car.

Your current car

A good place to start is to think about your current car, if you have one, and decide what you like and dislike about it. It may be useful to refer to the quick checklist on page 6.

Fuel type

In order to work out the running costs, you'll need to consider what type of fuel your car uses. The Scheme offers a range of fuel types, such as petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric vehicles. Speak to your dealer about which might be right for you.

The size of your car

If you have a big family you may want to consider a large family car or MPV. If you find it difficult to change gear easily, an automatic might be a good choice. You can see all the cars listed by type, with a short description of what each category means e.g. hatchback, MPVs, 4x4, etc. on pages 10-16 of this guide.

Comfort

You'll also need to think about travelling in the car day to day. Small changes in type, model or specification can have a big impact on your comfort or the car's suitability. For example, seat height, door opening angle and positioning of the seat belts can all make a big difference.

Adaptations and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles

For information on adaptations to make driving or travelling easier (such as hand or steering controls) and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (specially designed to allow a wheelchair user to travel whilst remaining in their wheelchair), please see pages 29 and 34 of this guide.

Still not sure which car is right for you?

If you are still not sure which car is for you, your local dealer will be glad to help. They'll take you through a Statement of responsibilities which is designed to make sure that the Scheme and the car you're considering is right for you.

To see the full list of cars available, go to motability.co.uk where you can use the online car search tool to narrow down your options.

Affordability: Which cars come within your budget?

Above all, we aim to make leasing a brand new car affordable. So once you have decided what sort of car would suit you best, you need to know which ones are within your budget.

Choose a car to suit your budget

When you lease a car through the Motability Scheme, there are three pricing options. No matter which car you choose all come with our all-inclusive package of insurance, breakdown cover, servicing, tyres and glass repair and replacement. The three pricing options are:

1.Cars that cost less than your mobility allowance ? a range of over 100 cars on the Scheme cost less than your mobility allowance, meaning the remainder will be paid directly to you by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). These cars are available to lease at a fixed weekly amount for the whole of your agreement and any increases in your allowance that the DWP makes will be paid directly to you. For more information, see page 9 of this guide.

2.Cars that cost all of your mobility allowance ? we have a range of over 200 cars that cost the same as your allowance. There's no Advance Payment and you simply swap the whole of your weekly mobility allowance for the car of your choice.

3.Cars that cost all of your mobility allowance and also have an Advance Payment ? you can increase your choice of cars by topping up your allowance with a non-refundable upfront payment which we call the Advance Payment. This payment covers the difference between your allowance and the total cost of the lease over the course of your agreement.

Keeping fuel costs down

Don't forget that your lease includes everything, except fuel, to provide you with worry-free motoring, so you will need to take into account the car's fuel costs. To keep the running costs down you may want to consider a more fuel efficient engine. Each car listed has a `miles per gallon' (mpg) figure; cars with a higher mpg cost less to run and usually provide lower CO2 emissions over the course of your lease.

Remember the mpg given is a guide to help you compare cars and is based on test conditions. The actual mpg each car achieves in real world driving is likely to be lower than the official figure.

To give you an idea of costs, for each car listed we have highlighted the average annual fuel costs which can help you compare between cars and see which option might save you money.

Trade in your old car

You can trade in your privately owned car at most dealerships, which you could use to help finance the Advance Payment.
