ALABAMA CREDIT UNION NAMED ONE OF 2015'S BEST CREDIT UNIONS TO WORK FOR

Credit Union Journal, Business Alabama and Best Companies Group recognizes Alabama Credit Union for offering one of the highest-quality workplaces in the industry

(Tuscaloosa, Ala.) ? Alabama Credit Union is among the 45 credit unions selected by Credit Union Journal as winners of the Best Credit Unions to Work for 2015, a national survey and awards program designed to identify, recognize and honor credit unions that have excelled at creating quality workplaces for employees. Alabama Credit Union was honored in August as one of the Best Companies to Work for in Alabama by Business Alabama and Best Companies Group. This is the third time Alabama Credit Union was named as one of the Best Companies to Work for in Alabama by Business Alabama and the second time named as one of the Best Credit Unions to Work For.

With the employee motto "We've Got Your Back," Alabama Credit Union offers staff tuition reimbursement, employee-sponsored emergency funds, a wellness program, EAP and tickets to community events such as a local air show. In recent years, Alabama Credit Union has also implemented its High-Performance Team initiative, which allows employees from a geographic and departmental cross-section of the organization to participate in high-level decision-making efforts. These include the implementation of new products and services, and procedural improvements.

"The result of this is increased formal and informal communication across the organization as employees work with others that they normally wouldn't encounter during their normal roles," said Alabama Credit Union's Human Resources Director Brandi McKinney. "Our employees learn by doing, and by carrying out these projects, numerous skills are honed, including problem-solving, strategic thinking, presentation skills and technological skills."

The Best Credit Unions to Work for and Best Companies to Work for in Alabama selection process involves two steps. First, judges evaluate each participating company's workplace policies, practices, and demographics, which counted for approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation. Second, employees of the participating companies complete surveys aimed at assessing the experiences and attitudes of individual employees with respect to the workplace, which was worth approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation. The combined scores determines the best companies/credit unions and final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process, as well as analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final ranking.

Alabama Credit Union is a not-for-profit entity with 25 branches across Alabama. Anyone who lives, works, goes to school or worships within many counties in Alabama is eligible to become an Alabama Credit Union member.
