Ecology of the snow leopard and the Himalayan tahr

In the absence of hunting in parts of New Zealand, tahr attain densities of >30/km2 (Tustin and Challies 1978) but with regular hunting their population maintained a density of ca. 5/km2. In Sagarmatha, the park banned hunting of tahr and any other wildlife species in 1976, but allowed grazing by local livestock (yak and yak/cattle crossbreed). ................
