The following are answers to questions submitted as of November 21, 2019:Question: Does the City know what type of pipe the existing service laterals currently consists of? Copper, poly, galvanized steel, etc.?Answer: Yes, majority of the existing service laterals is polybutylene. However, there may be some copper laterals. Question: Will the City allow Contractors to utilize a method of bursting the existing lateral piping while pulling the new service piping in its place?Answer: Yes, it is acceptable. Question: To the best of the City’s knowledge has there been in-line repairs made to the existing water service lateral piping to be replaced? For instance, have City crews had to excavate and expose the existing water service lateral piping and install couplers and replacement sections of pipe in order to repair leaks in the piping? If this has occurred does the City have any information as to how many and at what locations? This information will help determine the appropriate methods of trenchless installation.Answer: No, there has not been in-line repairs made by the City. However, there is no guarantee of the presence of couplers or fittings during construction of those laterals. In rare cases, other utility company may have made repairs to the laterals without City knowledge. ................
