In this example the large room is room 202.Example9 am game use rooms 209 & 202 south.10:30 am game use rooms 211 & 202 north.Cheerleading mostly room 210. If needed, room 204.Use metal crowd gates/barriers to place outside room 209 in the hall so that people coming in stop there until we allow them to continue and enter Gym Area 1.Use the post & ribbon crown barriers to divide the hall in half from the large restrooms to room 209. This way we can have participants go to their rooms on the west side and the spectators stay on the east side of the hall, waiting to enter for the next game.People enter one way and exit a different way. Below is an example.Enter: Enter the building at the entrance F going to the Library. Go right, up the incline, turn left at the hall by room 211. Note: Everyone must take all of their possessions, coats and such, with them.Spectators stay to the left (east side of the hall) to the metal gate at room 209. Spectators must wait in line until they are permitted to continue to the Gym Area 1.Participants stay to the right (west side of the hall) to the assigned room for their team. Room assignment signs post on wall.Exit: Out the Gym Area 1 turn right to the Lobby Area then;Go right out the Lobby doors (entrance A).ORGo left, down the ramp through the double doors straight through the Library and out the entrance F doors, ONLY if necessary.Space out seating in Gym Area 1 to allow room between the rows of individual bleachers and chairs. Allow more space between chairs in the same row. This is the reason for only allowing 2 adults per participants family as in #5 above.Allow standing only at the back of the Gym Area 1 window outside in the hall, if applicable.Pre-game huddles and anytime possible: Always keep social distancing as much as possible.Instead of doing the game day stars in the rooms after the game, there are two options.Do them in Gym Area 1 right after the game ends. This would eliminate the congestion in the room with participants and parents in the room at the same time after the game.Do them at practices during the week. For after game sportsmanship things like hi-5’s, handshakes, huddles or human tunnels, do alternative creative things.Note: Participants will need to go back to their rooms long enough to get their things and leave. This can be done by, after the game is over, participants leave the Gym Area 1, go get their things in their room and return to the hall outside Gym Area 1 to get with parents and then leave.Games (Gym Area 1, smaller court than the standard size court) 6 hours of games, 7 if needed.Game OutlineGame #GradeTime1Kindergarten9:00 am to 10:00 amNo Cheer10:00 am to 10:30 amClean RLC, Rms & RestroomsRooms used: 209 & 202 south2Kindergarten10:30 am to 11:30 amK1 Cheer11:30 am to 12:00 pmCleanRooms used: 211, 202 north (both for Basketball) & 210 (for cheer)31&2 Girls12:00 pm to 1:00 pmNo Cheer1:00 pm to 1:30 pmCleanRooms used: 209 & 202 south41&2 Girls1:30 pm to 2:30 pmNo Cheer2:30 pm to 3:00 pmCleanRooms used: 211 & 202 north51&2 Boys3:00 pm to 4:00 pmK1 Cheer4:00 pm to 4:30 pmCleanRooms used: 209, 202 south & 21061&2 Boys4:30 pm to 5:30 pmK1 Cheer (if need)5:30 pm to 6:00 pmCleanRooms used: 211, 202 north & (204 if needed for cheer)71&2 Boys6:00 pm to 7:00 pmK1 Cheer7:00 pm to 7:30 pmCleanRooms used: 209, 202 south & 210Games General Information (Upper Basketball Grades)Gym Area 2, standard full-size court with 2 side courts.Number per team is 8.Number of teamsOption 1, 18 divide by 2 = 9 hours of games.Option 2, both girls & boys divisions, 5th thru 8th Grades, 16 divide by 2 = 8 hours of games.Game format is 4v4 or 3v3, not 5v5.For the 3rd & 4th grade divisions, no longer 4 games per hour. This way we can have spectators stay to the left side of the hall as they enter.People enter one way and exit a different way. Note: Everyone must take all of their possessions, coats and such, with them and not leave anything in the hall where they came in at. Below is an example.Enter: Enter the building at the entrance F going down the hall. Room assignment signs post on wall.Exit: Out the Gym Area 2, down the hall, turn left and outdoors H.Mark the bleachers so that every other row is marked Do Not Sit in the Row.Make sure there is plenty of room for people to exit Gym Area 2.Chairs on the sideline for the players must be spaced out.Numbers 13-16 are done to allow more space between people. This is the reason for only allowing 2 adults per participants family as in #6 above.Instead of doing the game day stars in the rooms after the game, there are two options.Do them in the Gym right after the game ends. This would eliminate the congestion in the rooms with participants and parents in the room at the same time after the game.Do them during the week at practices. For pregame line up, players either stay in room or move to the gate barrier until allowed to move into position, which will be AFTER the spectators get into the gym.Pre-game huddles and anytime possible: Always keep social distancing as much as possible. For after game sportsmanship things like hi-5’s, handshakes, huddles or human tunnels, do alternative creative things.Note: Participants will need to go back to their rooms long enough to get their things and leave. Just must not waste any time with cleaning between games.Other Suggestions, Ideas or Things to Think AboutThe option is always available to change the divisions for Basketball and/or Cheerleading, if that is needed to make things work.It is important that we be flexible to make adjustments as the covid19 situation changes and communicate as much as possible. Are there any other people who should be a part of the Church Upward Leadership Team that would be good to give input?Coaches, parents or anyone else?To get good input from last season coaches and parents, send survey to coaches & parents asking what would it take for them to have their children participate in Upward safely?Timeline AdjustmentBe prepared to adjust your timeline as needed and even have 2-3 options. It is important to make sure to plan from League & Brochure creation all through the end of the season.CleaningOne suggestion is to have parents and coaches help clean for practices and games.Doing so would create by in.While you normally may have had small groups of people help clean, be flexible and have various options.Like the Snack signup sheet, have a Cleaning signup sheet. Will need a person(s) to help coordinate so people know where supplies are and what to do. Develop guidelines to hand out would also help.Lindsey’s Law for parents and participants (This is a requirement for the State of Ohio.)Looking at options to do electronically. This should be possible.Snacks: No snacks this year. If parents insist on snacks they must be individually packaged.Water: Each participant brings their own water in a bottle clearly marked with their name. Will need help so ensure social distancing is happening at practices and games.Assign a parent on each team/squad to help ensure social distancing at practices is followed by those not on the team and waiting during practices. Those in the same family must remain together and at least 6 feet from other families.Game Day TunnelNot useIf used, have the flaps taped back so they are in an open position. Plus, those going through the tunnel keep 6 feet apart.RegistrationDone only online.Parent waiver is signed online.Reduces things to touch. Those who pay by check or cash would have to register online. How would scholarships work?Required to put in the participants uniform size.Upward has sizing charts to help parent choose the right size.Doing this will eliminate the need for participants to try on sizing apparel at evaluations.Required to put in the participants height in inches. This also eliminates the need for participants to get their height at evaluations.EvaluationsWhile in person is the best and maybe the fairest, whether in person or not in person, both ways parents and participants will figure out a way to manipulate to their advantage. If you do in person evaluations,Space out between times people come.No Sizing Station. Show a sizing chart in case people did not do it online. No Height Station.Have a Parent Room or area to explain the adjustments because of covid19.Entering in at the at one entrance. Leaving they must exit a different door, if at all possible. One option is to do evaluations by appointment.Have players use the same ball throughout evaluation. Or allow players to bring their own ball.If you don’t do in person evaluations, there is an option of asking three evaluation questions in the online registration form using the User Defined Fields. An example is,Dribbling Skill (1=beginner, 2= average, 3= above average.)Shooting Skill ????For the Coaches Meeting move to a meeting on Zoom with using breakout rooms if you break out into smaller groups.Email all documents and links prior to the Zoom meeting.Referee Meeting move to a meeting on Zoom.Email all documents and links prior to the Zoom meeting. If you normally do tournaments, consider continuing them for 5th through 8th grade divisions. Following the new game format with time between games for cleaning.Signage: Make sure you have plenty of signage. General signs, sanitization, distancing (maybe include floor mats), etc.Refund PolicyMake or add a Covind19 refund policy in the event something happens after we get registration started all the way up to when practices start. Then let parents know this up front.By doing this, it will let parents know that they would not be out the registration cost should the season have to be cancelled.Develop a COVID plan for all coaches end everyone involved so they know how to report a sickness in a timely manner and what to do in the event a child or anyone comes to practice feeling sick or gets sick during practices or games. Have a point person people report sickness to. CDC recommendation: “Designate a youth sports program staff person to be responsible for responding to COVID-19 concerns. All coaches, staff, officials, and families should know who this person is and how to contact them.”Will need to enforce the leave if sick protocol.Coaches, players, parents, volunteers and anyone else must stay home for the following; If they are sick.Have tested positive for Covid19.Has a family member who has tested positive or is showing Covid19 symptoms.Anyone in the family is showing Covid19 symptoms (list the symptoms so everyone is clear).Coaches to call their Commissioner to report not being able to go to practices and/or games.List out the CDC guidelines for return to sports participation. Then follow the CDC’s criteria for returning to work/school and apply to practices & games.Develop a plan so everyone knows what happens if the following situations.A coach can’t come to a practice and/or game. What to do if one coach can’t be there. What to do when both coaches can’t be there.A participant can’t come to a practice and/or game. What to do when 4 or more can’t come to a practice. Or another way to say this is if you have 4 or less participants. What to do when 4 or more can’t come to a game. Or another way to say this is if you have 4 or less participants.A Commissioner can’t do what they need to do for practices or games. Need to have a backup plan written down.Temperature ChecksPractices: Good thing to do for Coaches, Participants and Leadership and Practice Night help. Parents??Games: Recommended for Coaches, Participants, Leadership, Referees and any Game Day Helpers that will be close to others for more than a few seconds. Parents & Spectators??Record Readings??What needs to be done for contact tracing in the event it has to be done by the Health Department?Have temperature guidelines so everyone is clear. Anything above 100.00 degrees F. the participant or coach is NOT permitted to be at practices or games. If feasible have coaches do a self-health questionnaire. If temperature checks are not done, this should be a requirement.General cleaning between practices and gamesPracticesRooms & Areas: Sanitizing all surfaces that may have been touched.Balls: Have two carts of 10 balls per hour. One cart for each court. 1 ball for each participant (8) & coach (2). Carts 1 & 2 for the first practice. Change carts with 3 & 4 for 2nd practice and during 2nd practice, sanitize all balls in the 1st two carts. Then switch back and forth for remain practices that evening. Note: Will need to have 8 total ball carts. If needed, purchase more ball carts to hold 10 balls each.GamesRooms & Areas: Sanitizing all surfaces that may have been touched.Balls: Have 3 game balls. First ball for 1st game, second ball for 2nd game and sanitize the 1st ball. Then switch back and forth for each game all day. The 3rd ball is a spare in case needed.Balls during game: Sanitize the ball between each 6-minute segment and at halftime. Will need lots of supplies.Sanitizer: Will need to place in several areas during practices and games.General cleaning & sanitizing supplies like rags, microfiber cloths, etc.Maybe purchase UV handheld lights to help with sanitizing things like equipment and such.Face Coverings (Masks & Face Shields)Things to think about: Coaches, Leadership, Participants- (Lower Grade vs Upper Grades) Game day Volunteers, Referees.Would face shields be allowed? The CDC recommends “Face covering be worn by coaches, youth sports staff, officials, parents and spectators as much as possible.”Face Coverings:Currently in Ohio, age 10 and up mandated by the Governor. May change by the time practices begin.Exception for Sports in Ohio: “The individual is actively participating in athletic practice, scrimmage, or competition that is permitted under a separate Department of Health order;”This means during the actual practice, scrimmage or game, face coverings are not required. To and from practices, scrimmages or games, face coverings are required and those of the team not in the actual game and setting on the team seats face coverings are required.Gloves: As requested so need to have some on hand.Washing of Hands and/or hand sanitizingRequire coaches & players to do before practices & games? At halftime for games? After practices & games? We will need to make sure the soap dispensers in the restrooms don’t run out. This means we will need know how to fill them.Picture Day or Week: Will need to space the time out more than 10 minutes per team. Maybe 20 minutes per team. This may result in the need for additional day or some other adjustment.Game Day Wrist Bands (Kindergarten thru 4th grade)Move to Tyvek paper wrist bands. They are inexpensive. They come in a variety of colors and this method is disposable.Coaches would help those players who have trouble getting them on before each 6-minute segment. Then after each 6-minute segment, remove and put into trash container located by each set of team sideline chairs. Will need scissors which do not have a sharp point to avoid injury to players in the event they need to be cut off.CelebrationTo be discussed later. Will need to follow social distancing guidelines and face covering protocols.Maybe have two different sessions to allow for spacing.Or other creative options.Revised July 29, 2020 ................
