Introduction to Professional Management of Medical Marijuana Facilities in Canada

The Introduction to Professional Management of Medical Marijuana Facilities in Canada course is designed to provide an overview of the successes and continual challenges within the rapidly expanding medical marijuana market. The 16-week course is delivered online, making it open to anyone, anytime. Learn from professionals with experience in the industry including horticulturalists, lawyers and marketing specialists.

CNMMA + KPU The Canadian National Medical Marijuana Association is dedicated to ensuring Canadian patients who use medical marijuana have access to high quality products and services in a safe, regulated environment. The CNMMA is committed to sharing the best practices for using medical marijuana, and providing essential data and information. Working with continuing and professional studies at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, the new management of medical marijuana facilities course will provide an introductory education on plant production, facility management, regulations, marketing, and more.

COURSE CONTENT

Module One: Plant production and facility management theory Students will learn to identify the key differences in plant characteristics. They will become skilled at identifying healthy plant roots and unhealthy plant roots; learn treatment techniques, and how to optimize the environment for healthy root production. Students will also be taught irrigation options and techniques; growing mediums and hydroponic systems; pest management; crop cycles; drying and storage procedures; and Health Canada regulations.

Module Two: Legalities and regulations: becoming a licensed producer in the MMPR business Learn the history of government regulations in Canada in the marijuana business, and the history of government regulations of international cannabis hotspots. Understand local bylaws and review current legal challenges while developing a Marijuana for Medical Purposes Regulation (MMPR) application.

Module Three: Marketing, sales, and patient acquisition strategies Review Health Canada marketing regulations as you create and implement branding strategies and customer loyalty while learning who your target markets are.

Module Four: Medical conditions and drug development processes Learn the role of health care professionals in the use of medical marijuana, and what medical conditions are treated with cannabis in Canada. Explore Vancouver dispensaries, the drug development process and alternatives to smoking cannabis.
