Class Description

Participants will examine best practices, state framework, standards-based instruction, Fitness Gram testing procedures, instruction on physical education content areas, Physical Best philosophy applied to physical education classes, curriculum development, unit planning, lesson plans, job alike practices and more. This workshop will be held in a residential setting and will enable participants to: 1. Administer the Fitnessgram correctly 2. Implement quality physical education programs 3. Develop unit plans.

Three Salary Points: In the week-long residential Leadership in Technology and Quality Physical Education retreat, participants can earn up three salary points with follow up sessions.

Who: High school physical education teachers

Date: Sunday, July 9 through Friday July 14

Where: Institute will be held at the Thacher School in Ojai, CA.

Facilitated by: Chad Fenwick, physical education advisor, K-12

Apply for the institute

1. Register at the Learning Zone by April 21st , 2006 (See instruction on the back of this flyer)

2. Instructions for completing the conference Attendance Form will be emailed to applicants.

3. Space is limited, priority will be given on a first come first served basis.

Note: Institute costs, are approximately $1,000 per person, and will be provided by the Instructional Support Services Office. Lodging and meals are included. NO SUBSITUTE coverage will be provided for on-track teachers during the institute. On track teachers are invited, but schools must fund their own substitute coverage.
