The SDA Fellows’ Best Practices A/E/C Competition is now accepting submissions to present your firm’s best practice at EDSymposium20 in Asheville, NC in June 2020!The purpose of this competition is to tap into the plethora of best practices that have been developed at SDA member firms over the years. The practice may be technical, e.g., Clark Nexsen’s weekly reports from PM to clients that improve communications with clients, reduce misunderstandings, and move the management ball down the field; or it may be administrative, e.g., a Deltek work flow or user-defined info center for firm licenses.Your best practice may be aligned with any of SDA’s five Professional Emphasis Groups (PEGs) or any technical subject, as long as it addresses a topical issue of interest to our industry, and is based on research and experience, using examples specific to the A/E/C design industry.The intent of this best practice competition is to encourage SDA members to share their knowledge and to further develop the resources, expert knowledge, and professionalism of all SDA members and the A/E/C industry in general.The competition is open to any SDA member in good standing. awardTwo best practices will be selected for this award. Winners will present their submittals at EDSymposium20. The winning submittals will each receive $200 towards their EDS20 registration to present their submittal. The Best Practices judges reserve the right to award or not, based on the number of or the quality of submittals received. The abstracts will then be ranked, and the two abstracts with the highest ranking will be declared the winners of the competition. Any Fellows entering the competition will not serve on the judge’s panel.ABSTRACT formatThe Best Practice topic is the author’s choice, as long as it relates to project or business management in an A/E/C firm.The Best Practice must address a topical issue of interest to the A/E/C industry, and be based on research and experience, using examples specific to the A/E/C design industry.An SDA member must complete all of the requested information on the Best Practice A/E/C Competition Cover Page. The SDA member must also submit the Cover Page to SDA National. The abstract must be submitted as a *.pdf file.
