Derby Winter 2020 Club OfferingsAs we venture into the cold, dark days of winter, it is time to jump into some Derby after school activities. Below, you will find the offerings for our winter session of clubs, which will begin the week of January 6, 2020.Sewing Club: Join Miss Lisa & Miss Joelle of Lucky Penny Purses at Derby’s Sewing Club to learn to sew (with sewing machines!) a ton of fun and useful projects. ?You will learn how to use a pattern, choose fabric, master a sewing machine and sew unique projects from start to finish.?We have fun new projects for returning students and some favorites for new students like scrunchies, pillows, ponchos, scarves and more! The Roblox eSport class will teach game design using Roblox commands, 3D modeling, textures, arena development and some Lua programming language. In addition, students will gain 21st century skills including creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication. Every student will storyboard and present their game. The classes will educate kids about game design and computer science. Students do not need to have coding or gaming experience. Laptops will be provided to students.The first 15 students will be accepted for enrollment and the rest will be placed on a wait list. There will be no refund once class begins. Coach Wilson’s goal is to increase students’ knowledge of this wonderful game. Students new to the game of Chess will learn basic pawn movements and about the IMPOLDS technique. Students who have some understanding of Chess will learn more advanced IMPOLDS techniques as well as official rules.
