Age Requirements
Campers must be the required age by the start of the program.
Extended Hours
Extended hours have a separate barcode for registration. Refer to the camp program charts for times, fees and locations. Extended hours are only for children registered in a City of Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation camp.
Inclusion and Support
We welcome and include children and youth with special needs/disabilities to explore our camp opportunities at a level of participation suitable to their ability, program choice and facility access.
Note: If your child/youth requires additional support/facilitation to be included at camp, you must register using the inclusive/intergration request codes. In order to provide support to as many children as possible, with the resources available, a maximum of two weeks of inclusive/integration services may be provided per child. Register early, as space is limited.
Lunch and Snacks
A supervised lunch period is offered at each location. Children must bring their own snacks and lunch each day (full-day programs only). If a child forgets their lunch, we will request a lunch be dropped off. In order to reduce the risk of exposure to nut allergens, we recommend participants bring nut-free lunches to camps. Participants should also bring a refillable, non-breakable, clearly labelled water bottle with them to avoid sharing of water bottles and the spread of germs. More information will be provided at camp locations.
Supervision
It is important that you know your child is in a safe and caring environment. We implement a standard staff to child ratio at all camps.
Staff
Our program staff have been carefully selected for their enthusiasm, experience and background in working with children. Staff participate in extensive training which includes child management, appropriate program planning, risk management, policies and procedures, customer service, inclusion and support and much more. All staff are certified in First Aid and HIGH FIVE? Principles of Healthy Child Development.
Staff qualifications are monitored on an ongoing basis to ensure they are current and in compliance with standards and legislation.

How to contact us:
Phone: 416-395-0150 Email: campnaorca@toronto.ca
Summer Camp Address (July and August): 60 Blue Forest Dr (Dufferin St and Finch Ave W)
Daily Programming ? Old Favourites and New Experiences
For over 60 years, Camp Naorca staff have strived to pass down all of our best-loved camp traditions. In addition, campers can expect a fun-filled time, enjoying our environmentally friendly programming. Camp Naorca staff allow campers to gain a greater awareness of, and appreciation for nature and the environment through:
? Hiking Trails ? Arts and crafts ? Drama and cooperative games ? Special events ? Active games and sports ? Music and song ? Nature lore and storytelling ? Archery ? Nature and ecology projects ? Campfires and outdoor cooking ? Swimming and waterplay activities are held
at a nearby community centre pool.
Note: Camp Naorca operates rain or shine. In extreme weather, we have emergency indoor facilities.
Integration and Support for Campers with Special Needs We welcome and include children and youth with special needs/disabilities to explore our summer camp opportunities at a level of participation suitable to their ability. Once camp commences, your camper will be integrated with other campers in their age group. Note: the additional staff support you are requesting, will only be available during camp program hours; not present at the bus stop or during bus travel.
If your child requires a staff to support their special need:
? Do not register campers with special needs, in the mainstream barcodes (Bluejays, Falcons, Skyhawks, T-birds, Eagles, or Pathfinders), they will not be honoured.
? Register campers with special needs in a Camp Naorca "special needs" program barcode only. If barcodes are full, you can place camper on the waitlist. In an attempt to accommodate as many campers as possible, we will follow up with all registered and waitlisted campers. See the Naorca program chart on the next page.
? All registered and waitlisted campers, will be contacted by Camp Naorca staff in early spring, to arrange an assessment meeting. An assessment meeting is a requirement before camp starts, in order to gauge the compatibility of Camp Naorca with the dynamics of each child who has special needs. (Please note, if you had an assessment meeting already with a City of Toronto staff in the fall or winter, you may still need to conduct one again with Camp Naorca staff, due to the unique nature of our facility setting and program)
? Due to the high demand for support staff, a maximum of 2 weeks of support may be provided by City of Toronto staff. If you would like to register for more than 2 weeks of camp, call the Camp Naorca office at 416-395-0150.
Pathfinder Camping Trip (12-14 years) In addition to registering for the Pathfinder program barcode, Pathfinder campers have the option of registering for a two night/three day camping trip to a nearby provincial park. These camping trips are designed to help foster independence and develop camping skills. Under the supervision of staff, campers will enjoy playing an active role in the set-up of a campsite and preparation of campfire meals. They will also help plan and engage in daily physical activities and specialized evening programming around the campfire.
Note: there is an additional fee to register for this camping trip. A separate off-location trip permission form and information package will be sent home the first day of each session.
Counsellor-In-Training Program (C.I.T.'S) Camp Naorca offers an exceptional quality leadership program for youth 15 years+. C.I.T.`S attend on-site theory workshops with their peers, to learn about such topics as: communication, conflict resolution, child development and leadership. The remainder of the time, C.I.T`s are assigned a supervised job shadowing placement within the camp. Our program provides an opportunity to gain valuable experience in assisting our counsellors with daily camp activities. Youth with special needs/disabilities are welcome to register and must be able to participate independently in the C.I.T. program. Participants may register for either our July session or our August session; not both. Registered participants will be contacted prior to the commencement of this program, in order to attend a mandatory orientation/one-on-one meeting.
Camp Naorca Registration and Sign In/Out ? Camp Naorca operates daily from 9am-4pm.
(There are no Extended Hours.) ? Campers must be the required age by the
program start date as we do not provide age overrides. ? Parents/guardians must register campers in both a program barcode and a bus stop barcode of their choice. ? Parents/guardians who wish to drive campers to Camp Naorca directly and not utilize the bus service, must register campers in a program barcode and the "Camp Naorca sign in/out" barcode (instead of a bus stop barcode.)
Camp Naorca Bus Transportation Service Bus transportation is offered at no additional charge, but seating is limited.
This service is provided by a professional school bus company. Camp Naorca bus stops span across the North York District, and may be subject to change based on registration demand and road restrictions.
? Campers must register for one bus stop only. This must be the same location for pick-up and drop-off.
? Bus pick-up is between 8am-9am and dropoff is between 4pm-5pm. A few days closer to the start of each session, staff will email you to confirm a more accurate bus stop time.
? Parents/Guardians are responsible for the supervision of campers at bus stops, before pick-up and after drop-off times. Parent or guardian must sign campers in/out at their bus stop.
