ROCKY MOUNTAIN TURF CLUB (RMTC)PROTOCOLS FOR BACKSTRETCH TRAINING DURING COVID-19 FOR 2020Horsemen, due to the COVID-19 pandemic RMTC has been required by AHS to put in protocols for horsemen training on the backstretch.Training during our Live Fall Meet at RMTC please contact the race office (403-380-1900) to advise you are training, how many horses you will be bringing and date your will be arriving. You Must have filled out a stall application for the Fall Race meet. The race office will advise you of what barn your stalls are and how many horse stalls you have been allotted. You cannot use any stalls that have not been assigned to you.There will be one access gate open to the backstretch that will have security where you must identify: your name, what barn you are going to, and what your purpose to the backstretch is. This will be the gate by the Exhibition by the ship in barn.Rocky Mountain Turf Club requires people arriving from out of country: Upon arrival in Alberta, we ask that you call?the race office 403-380-1900.? We will need your re entry date to Canada, and we will give?you a date you can arrive to Rocky Mountain Turf Club’s backstretch. Do not ship your horses to the track without this.?With the Government of Canada rules, you MUST self isolate for 14 days.?Individuals in self-isolation will NOT be permitted to come onto our backstretch?to provide care for their horses until the 14-day self-isolation period is completed. Your horses will be permitted on the backstretch, but must be under the care of a Canadian-based staff or those that have already completed the 14 day isolation period. The horses will still be allowed to train under the care of the staff listed above. During COVID-19 the backside at Rocky Mountain Turf Club will be open for training with strict protocols and regulations from AHS. We hope to continue this barring any outbreaks. Please remember that not everyone infected may show symptoms. Practice social distancing, do not gather in groups more than 5; and if you are sick, or feel sick, please remain at home.? During this time RMTC will only be admitting essential personnel to the backside.??The following?people?will be permitted in the Backstretch:?Trainers??HRA PersonnelRMTC PersonnelCPMA PersonnelGroomsExercise riders &??Jockeys?Veterinarians or Vet Techs, horse dentists?FarriersTrack Maintenance CrewApproved personnel that supply shavings, feed, etc.?Access?temporarily not permitted?for non-essential?people?include:??Owners?VisitorsJockey Agents?Other License holders listed above, that do not have active work that dayAnyone under the age of 16?*For horse people that were last in the U.S.A., please respect the Government of Canada’s guidelines and self-isolate for a period of 14 days.Horseman,?for those of you that will be required to self isolate, RMTC asks you to try and not have living arrangements with someone who is currently going to the backside. If you must live with someone, please read the attached link on how self isolate with roommates.? All personnel must abide by any AHS, Government and RMTC health & safety requirements and COVID-19 precautionary measures. This includes but is not limited to:?Security will be conducting a health check and self-screening at the designated gate to the barn areaStay home when ill or when a family member in the household is ill, and self-isolate/isolate as advised by provincial health authoritiesMaintain strict physical distancing of at least two (2) metres (or six (6) feet)Masks must be worn when on the backstretch, no one will be permitted on backstretch without one.Strict hand washing and hygiene with each barn to supply sanitizer for workersReport any suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 immediately to Race office or Security staffBARNS AND STALLSOnce a trainer has been approved stalls; you will be advised where your barn and stalls are locatedTrainer will be advised what barn door to use for your stableOnly one horse on wash rack at a timeDistancing of 2 metersTrainers will be limited to essential personnel only in their designated barnsLimit travel between barns. If you don’t have to go to a barn, don’t go. Social distancing is?critically?important.??Disinfect all shared equipment or make sure only one person uses certain equipment?and always?sanitize hands after use.??Trainers must stay in their own barn or designated shed rowIt is the trainers responsibility to make sure their workers able by all rulesIT IS IMPERATIVE THAT ALL HORSEMEN FOLLOW AND REMIND EACH OTHER OF THESE PROTOCOLS IF WE WANT TO RACE IN 2020.? All it will take is one and we will be shut down.? AHS will be making unscheduled visits.CAMPGROUNDCamping spots will be limited jockeys, exercise riders and to trainers and grooms that have to travel least 50 km or more and do not have other accommodations. Campers must be approved by race office before moving into campground. There is limited camping stalls and will be allocated by priority by the race office.To ensure the best possible chance of success for horse racing in Alberta in 2020, everyone must comply with the guidelines set forth by the Federal and Provincial Governments and prevent the spread of COVID-19.ROCKY MOUNTAIN TURF CLUB (RMTC)PROTOCOLS FOR BACKSTRETCH DURING LIVE RACINGBACKSTRETCH ADMITANCEAccess to the stable area will be limited to licensed trainers and essential credentialed personnel needed for the care of the horses or conduct of live racing. No owners, media, fans or guests will be allowed to enter into the backstretch, stable area at any time.Personnel that are permitted to the stable area, if you have a temperature or not feeling well are not allowed on the backstretch.Everyone entering the backstretch must wear a mask or other protective covering over the nose and mouth while on the grounds at all times. It is the trainer’s responsibility to ensure their barn workers wear protective covering. Tack and barn equipment (eg. Lead shanks, grooming tools mucking equipment, tack etc.) must be cleaned and sanitized daily. Do not share tack or equipment between trainers.No gatherings in groups larger than six.PHYSICAL DISTANCING PROTOCOLThe Racing Office will have limited access for number of people in the race office at one time for entries. Entry slips can be filled out and signed and then submitted to the race office.Draws will be limited to jockeys and trainers only.WINNERS CIRCLEWinners circle will be limited to jockey, trainer and one groom. Owners can stand behind the winners circle white fence.EYE IN THE SKY PERSONELLStewards must ensure enough room for physical distancingAll other personell when possible must remain in their designated area. (eg. Camera operators, chart caller, announcer, etc.)JOCKEY’S AND ESSENTIAL JOCKEY’S ROOM PERSONNEL.Jockeys are to maintain 6-foot distancing.Only essential personnel licensed by Horse Race Alberta and jockeys scheduled to ride in races will be allowed access to the Jockey’s Room.All jockeys and essential personnel in the Jockey’s Room (including Valets and the Clerk of Scales, showing any signs of illness or temperature will not be permitted in the room.Jockeys must be prohibited from any physical contact between themselves and others.Jockeys will be required to leave the Jockey’s Room immediately following their last ride.STARTING GATEGate crew must wear a suitable covering (mask or bandana) when travelling from the paddock to the starting gate and will have no physical contact with any other personnel unless in the best interest of safety.ESSENTIAL PERSONELL ON TRACKAll pony riders and outriders on the track will be required to wear masks and gloves if possible.PADDOCKOnly the required racing officials, trainers and grooms will be permitted in the paddock for saddling.All trainers, grooms must wear a face covering or mask in the paddock. Owners are not permitted in the paddock.Your cooperation and attention to the set out protocols is appreciated.
