LEATHER TYPES

Deerskin ? features great comfort as its natural fibers trap air inside, making the leather feel lighter and extremely supple. You'll get an incomparably comfortable and luxurious feeling wearing a pair of deerskin gloves. Elkskin ? also very supple among all kinds of leathers, with added strength for even more durable wearing. Cowhide ? an overall favorite leather as it strikes a good balance of dexterity, durability, abrasion resistance and comfort. With fair thickness and resistance to heat and sparks, it is also widely used for applications e.g. welding. Pigskin ? is commonly used in the glove industry with its great resilience and breathability, and resistance to abrasion and tear. Goatskin ? this long-lasting and supple leather is mostly available in thin cuts, so it is a perfect choice for light to medium duty gloves, featuring great sensitivity and dexterity.

CUTS OF LEATHER

Thick animals' leather can be split into two or more layers. The outermost layer is called grain leather, and the inner split leather. Both types are widely used in the glove industry with their unique features. Grain ? The grain-textured outer layer is regarded as the most durable and soft, which usually also means the most expensive. Gloves made with grain leathers usually provide a high level of flexibility as well as good abrasion and tear resistance. Split ? The rougher inner layer of the leather is used in making heavy-duty work gloves, with its very good resistance to abrasion, tear and heat. Also, the coarser surface of the split leather creates a firm grip of the gloves.

GLOVE TERMS & FEATURES

Keystone Thumb ? classic ergonomic design of the thumb, brings superior flexibility to thumb movement. Wing Thumb ? ergonomically angled thumb with no seams on the palm side, avoid obstructing work or causing fatigue. Straight Thumb ? simple thumb design that points vertically and is good for gripping. Rolled Index Finger ? in this design, the seam at the side of the index is placed farther away from the palm, leaving the working area of the finger smooth for extra dexterity. Safety Cuff ? is a solid wide cuff that would protect the wrist from impact and debris. Common two types of safety cuffs are the more solid rubberized safety cuff and the softer paste safety cuff. Elastic Wrist ? is mostly seen on driver's gloves, with shirred elastic band on the back of the wrist. Easy on and off. Knit Wrist ? fits snugly to keep debris and wind out, absorbing sweat and saving warmth. Velcro Fastening ? the cuff is made with sturdy elasticated band and velcro for easy adjustment to a tight and snug fit.

LINING TECHNIQUES Full sock lined ? the lining is self-completed and cushions the hands all around from feeling the inner surface of the gloves, providing great comfort and keeping warmth in. Half lined ? the lining is on the palm side of the glove, adding wearing comfort with palm cushion and sweat absorption effect. Unlined ? many driver's gloves are unlined as to provide best sensitivity and dexterity.

NEW & ADVANCED FEATURES Kevlar? Sewn ? the DuPont? Kevlar? thread, with its steel-like strength and resistance to heat and flame, is used in many high quality work gloves, making the gloves even tougher and withstand heat applications. Waterproof Bladder ? a molded glove-shape plastic insulation between the outer layer of the gloves and the glove lining. Even when the glove surface gets wet, the hand would still be dry as it is insulated from moisture by the waterproof bladder.

COMMON CHEMICAL COATING GLOVES Nitrile ? a polymer most commonly used in making dipping work gloves and disposable gloves, with its great industrial performance against oil & grease, mechanical hazards e.g. abrasions and snags. Nitrile coated gloves also have very firm grip. Latex ? also known as natural rubber, is also commonly seen in the industry of work gloves. It features high tensile strength, resilience, abrasion and tear resistance, as well as a firm grip dry or wet. PU ? this thin coating provides a good abrasion resistance and is very breathable, in addition to great grip and finger sensitivity.
