Creation - Children's Bible Lessons for Kids

Creation (Genesis 1:1 - 2:7)

Main Point: God created the world and everything in it to make His glory known.

Key Verse: For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see His invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. - Romans 1:20 NLT

Materials: Large, blank puzzle pieces that all fit together. They can be purchased, or hand-made.

Personal Connection

This first huddle lesson is a great time to get to know the children that you will be developing relationships with for the rest of the year.

• Introduce yourself

• Tell one thing you are glad that God created.

• Have the group tell their name and one thing they are glad God created.

Hands-On Application

• Distribute a puzzle piece to each child.

• Tell the children to write their name and a fun fact about themselves on the puzzle piece. Encourage them to use their favorite color.

• If there are enough pieces that each child could have another piece, have them write words or draw a picture of the thing they are most thankful that God created.

• While the group is working on the puzzle, walk around and talk with the kids. Ask them questions about what they’re drawing. “Tell me about…”

• Put the puzzle together

Group Discussion

• Open your Bible and read 1 Corinthians 12:12-20.

• Say: This year our huddle group is going to act as a unit - like a family. We all have our part, and we all have a job. Every person is important; you treat others the way you want to be treated, and you take care of one another. See our puzzle? We need every piece to make the puzzle complete. Remove one of the pieces. See, if we didn’t have this piece, we have a hole in the puzzle. Put the piece back. Now the puzzle is complete. What are some ways we can make sure we are acting as a family this year? Allow the children to discuss this. Possible responses: be kind to each other, don’t talk while someone else is talking, be respectful, listen to each other, and use kind words.

Conversation with God (Prayer)

In today’s prayer, let’s thank and praise God for loving us so much and for creating us. He is so worthy of our praise! He made this world beautiful and fun. You may want to point out some of the things the children mentioned earlier that they are glad God made. We are also going to pray over our group that we will work together and not leave any pieces out. Close in prayer.
