Sunday Tots: Take home idea: 3rd December 2017:

Date: Sunday 26th April 2020

Topic: Jesus goes back to heaven

Bible Verses: Luke 24:50-52; Acts 1:1-11

You can find the story in the books of Luke and Acts in the bible. It is also written with the colouring sheets.

Activity 1: Did you make some shakers during the Easter Sunday Tots session? If not do you have any instruments at home, or pans you could play. Why not play along, run, jump or dance to some of the songs today.

Let's start again with a wiggle!

Our God is a great big God

Activity 2: If you can, print the colouring sheets for your child(ren) to colour. Alternatively why not ask them to draw a copy of the picture. Instead you could ask them to make a blue and white cloud shape out of bricks or duplo. Read the story and chat about their picture. Remind them that God is always with us, through his Holy Spirit who lives inside us if we ask Him too. God wants us to tell our friends about him, so that they can know Him for themselves.

Activity 3: Ascension craft

When Jesus went back to heaven it is called his ascension. The bible tells us that Jesus went up in the air and was covered within the clouds. Why not try his ascension craft to remind your child(ren) that Jesus rose again, went to heaven and can now be with us by His Holy spirit.

What you need:

Paper

Pen/pencil

Crayons/felts

Paper cup, yoghurt pot or similar

Cotton wool, tissue paper or similar

String or wool

Scissors

What to do:

- Using the above items with your child(ren), cover the pot with blue paper (or white paper that can be coloured). Stick on your tissue/tissue paper/cotton wool.

- Draw a picture of Jesus to attach below the cup.

- Make a cloud shape and write 'I will be with you always'. Matthew 28:20. Colour and decorate it in as you desire.

- Cut out the cloud and Jesus, carefully attach them with the cup in between as in the picture.

- Add a string hanger above the cloud so you can hang up your craft.

This cartoon summarises the topics we have looked at in April. Why not watch it together and see which parts your child(ren) remember from other weeks.
