Foreword

This book consists of transcripts of six sermons that a minister of Jesus Christ for over fifty year, Mr. Fred R. Coulter, gave on the spirit in man. Upon finishing the study of this sermon transcript book the reader should understand what mankind as a whole does not know-- namely that there is a spirit in man.

The first transcript, "The Heart / Mind Connection I ? The Heart, the Mind and the Spirit in Man," speaks of there being a consciousness that we are aware of and that there is a consciousness that we are not aware of. The consciousness that we are not aware of is referred to as the emotional brain. Noted is that ultimately, everything in our lives hinges on our emotional responses to specific events.

The second transcript, "The Heart / Mind Connection II ? Change Your Heart by Repentance," speaks of the heart, not the brain, as what causes the whole body to respond as far as the endocrine and hormonal glands are concerned. It is so important to realize that things which people do and say do affect our heart and mind one way or the other. Much is said about the hardening of the heart. Hardening of the heart occurs when people sin and they refuse to admit that they're wrong.

The third transcript, "The Heart / Mind Connection III ? Penalties for a Hardened Heart," speaks of what the Bible means when it speaks of the heart. Namely, the deepest part of the mind, is what the Bible refers to as the heart. Given is a warning that one needs to stay away from evil because evil has a profound effect on the thinking part of your heart. Much is spoken about this process of the hardening of the heart within people.

The fourth transcript, "The Heart / Mind Connection IV ? Turn to God with All Your Heart," covers how important it is to guard the door of your mind--to actively reject evil thoughts or emotions entering one's mind. Everything that one experiences, heard, and seen has lodged in one's mind. God's purpose for mankind is that, under the New Covenant, for the knowledge of God to be written in the mind of people. Covered in detail is the most important thing in the lives of men--that of men loving God.

The fifth transcript, "The Heart / Mind Connection V ? Qualities of the Heart of David #1," speaks much upon God's attitude towards men, His attitude towards rituals, towards the thoughts of men. Noted is that people need to understand that there is nothing great that we can, of ourselves, do for God because everything we do is done with what God has created. The thing that we can do for God, that is within our ability which will please God, is to obey God. Noted also is that God wishes to help those who obey God--but they have to come to God, to earnestly seek God, and ask for God's help. All things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to God's purpose.

The sixth transcript, "The Heart / Mind Connection VI ? Qualities of the Heart of David #2," speaks of how all of the issues of life and death and choices before God come from the innermost part of the mind. Noted is that only God can bring to the heart understanding concerning the covenant of God.

Upon finishing this book the reader will understand that God can deliver from all circumstances. And if one seeks God earnestly, God will intervene in that person's life, to bring about God's Will for that person ? that is what is the best answer to that person's prayer.
