The Watchman and the Gatekeeper

The Watchman and the Gatekeeper

Watching, Warning, Intercession, and Authority

This is a brief study on the watchman and the gatekeeper. These are two different positions in the Kingdom of Elohim, but they work together to protect the set-apart people of Yahuweh from the enemies of their lives.

In 1998, the Father let me know strongly that I was to get rid of all my possessions except what was barely needed, and move to Aqaba, Jordan. I obeyed, and left with three suitcases for Aqaba in April of 1999. I did not know that my ministry of preaching and teaching, evangelism, and missionary work was going to change to that of a watchman—to researching and writing and to teaching that would be prophetic—warning and preparing people for the time of great tribulation. I did not know that He would add the ministry of intercession and gate-keeping. This also began in 1999.

For 6 ½ years in Aqaba, I was faithful to be an intercessor over the sea port on the Red Sea and the land borders of Jordan with Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

At different points He gave me strategic and specific intercession assignments in Aqaba. But, He also began sending me to places like Greece--to the Isle of Patmos--to Turkey, Far East Russia, northern Israel, and to such places as Evian, France, during the G-8 meeting of 2003.

I continued to minister in Africa until 2001. Then He sent me to Wales in 2004 and 2005, and Father used me to open doors for His entrance into several places for His remnant in the days to come. In 2004, He sent me with a Welsh intercessor to the north of Jordan--especially to extensive well-preserved Roman ruins of ancient Jerash--to intercede for that area for the purposes of the Father for His remnant. Since then, the King of Jordan has let it be known that the ruins of Jerash, one of the Decapolis--Ten Greek cities in New Testament times--would be one of his top priority for development in all ways. This is an answer to prayer. In 2005, He sent me with the same Welsh intercessor and an English intercessor to the north of Jordan to do more intercession in more places of refuge for His people in the days to come.

He gave me Isaiah 28:5-6 and Amos 5:15 for my calling as a watchman over the port of Aqaba—for the house of Judah and the house of Israel (Joseph). He gave me Jeremiah 1 and Ezekiel 33:7 and Ezekiel 3 as my calling too—as a watchman—specifically to the “house of Israel”—the ten “not-lost-anymore” tribes.

In November of 2005, Father particularly impressed me to go to the North of Israel to warn them that they would have to flee out of Israel and that the only place to go was into northern Jordan—into the Decapolis areas of ancient Greece and Rome—where Jews hid in their history, as in 70CE. I went into the Golan Heights, and into the Tiberias area on the Sea of Galilee. The Father opened doors for me with several people, and I became friends with some. By this time, the Father had me writing articles of warning, of Hebrew roots

Page 1

instruction, on the coming tribulation, and about His second coming and His Kingdom (since late 2002). I was sending these articles out to many—not knowing that by now (2006) I would have the articles going into five continents. I began writing articles refuting false doctrine and going to the roots of belief, exposing lies and deceptions that are trapping Yahuweh’s people.

After my trip in November of 2005, I came back to Aqaba. He impressed on me that I was to be a “gate-keeper”, not only for the ports of Aqaba and Eilat on the Red Sea and the land and airport borders along the Red Sea for both Jordan and Israel—but also for the Israel/Syria border, the Israel/Lebanon border, the Israel/Jordan border on the Jordan River, the Israel border at Eilat, the Jordan/Syria border, and the Jordan/Iraq border.

In April of 2006, the Father impressed me to go to the Tiberias area to

intercede over the border of Israel with Lebanon from the Mediterranean Sea at Rosh Ha Nikra to Metula. Two Messianic friends from Tiberias and I did that on April 24, 2006. In July of 2006, the war between Israel and Hezbollah began, and many of the prayers that we prayed were answered. But, the intercession over that border must continue.

Intercession over the Israel/Syria border must continue also—for from the area of Damascus will come the Isaiah 17 war, and the Ezekiel 38-39 war--with Russia, Iran and the Arab nations.

I returned to the U.S. in mid May of 2006. I had no idea what I would be doing in America. Almost immediately the Father strongly impressed me, and confirmed it, instructing me to go to four major Texas river mouths, used on the routes of Solomon from 950BCE, on the Gulf of Mexico in Texas, in three trips before June 30th. I had three teams and three trips, and the assignment was finished on June 29th. I appreciate those who have a heart for intercession, who walk in the Torah of Yahuweh and know the Savior as the Jewish Messiah and Redeemer.

I thought I was finished with intercession over ports and borders. But, shortly after that I got an invitation to speak in a congregation in Alabama and stay in Mississippi with a couple. I flew into GulfPort, Mississippi. Finding out it was a port, I asked the couple if they would take me to intercede over that port—which they did. Then the man asked if I’d like to go to Dauphin Island. I’d never heard of it. It is at the entrance of Mobile Bay, Alabama. I did not know that Mobile was a major port. Oil rigs were at the entrance of the Bay, too. He blew the shofar, and we interceded over that port, at Fort Gaines.

From early May, the Father impressed me to go to Alaska—to intercede for His people who would have to flee through Alaska to safety. Then He clarified “Anchorage” in August. I did not know why. Then I found out that Anchorage was a major sea port, train port, sea-plane port, international air port, and generally a major transportation hub for all of Alaska—highways, trucks, cars and dog sleds. In mid-September 2006, I went to Anchorage and interceded over these port areas. The Jews will be fleeing from the East of Russia in the

Page 2

days ahead, crossing the Bering Straits—for they will have no other place to go to in order to escape death. There was no one I talked to, or heard about, that had any understanding of the world-wide fleeing to come, and their part in helping and in intercession for the remnant that He wants to save. I have one precious short and to-the-point e-mail from a pastor in Nome, Alaska, saying that he didn’t know anything about Jews fleeing into Alaska on their way to the Land, but if any came through his area, he’d help them.

It used to be, so I was told in Anchorage, that there were flights from the airport in Anchorage to Tel Aviv, over the North Pole—for that was a direct route, but that the flights stopped due to lack of interest. The route is still there!

In my U.S. intercession the Father gave me strategic Scriptures to use, like Malachi 2:12-13 and Hosea 11:10. I also called out the tribes in their marching orders as per Numbers 10, which matches Malachi 2:12-13 and Zechariah 8:23.

He is going to break through for the whole house of Jacob in these last days, to get His remnant home. He expanded my understanding that there will be a world-wide repeat of Exodus 14/Jeremiah 16:14-16.

In 2005, He sent me to Milford Haven, a major port of Wales, opening into the Irish Sea—from which His people will get out to His Land. In calling out the names of the tribes there, the anointing of the Father’s Spirit came on me so strongly that I went into what is called “travailing prayer”—the wailing and bearing down like child birth that births the purposes of Yahuweh. Elijah was in this position when he prayed for rain. Other ways to break through the gates of the enemy are found in praise, in speaking out the victorious Psalms with strong voice, in rejoicing, in shofar blowing, and in shouting to Yahuweh His praises. This confuses and breaks through the enemy’s strongholds, and allows Yahuweh entrance to do battle. An example of this is in II Chronicles 20. When the enemy is revealed, there are definite measures that we can use against him—as Ephesians 6:10-18; II Corinthians 10:3-6.

July 22, 2006, an intercessor friend said something that got me to doing more study. She said that the Father had impressed on her that the watchmen have been in their place for a long time, but now He is raising up gatekeepers who will guard the gates after the watchman has blown the shofar in warning. She said that for a long time the watchmen have been warning us. But, now the enemy is at the gate—and the gatekeepers must be in position to do their job. Good revelation for us to study more about!

Ezekiel 33:1-7: The watchman is to be in his watch-tower day and night (Habakkuk 2:1-3) to blow a clear shofar (trumpet) sound—a trumpet blast—in order to wake up the people if he sees danger coming.

The gatekeeper is in position in order to guard the gate against anyone coming in that will harm the people.

The watchmen have been blowing the “wake up” blast of the shofar for a long time. Yet, because many gatekeepers are not doing their job—backed by the authority of the King—many enemies have gotten through to harm His people.

Page 3

The time of great “apostasy”—falling away from the true worship of Yahuweh and Yahushua is taking place very rapidly. There are many who call themselves “intercessors” or ministers, yet they are not observant—not watching reality—but playing religious games, and the enemy is overrunning the gates of His people.

The watchman gives warning in many ways—by preaching, teaching, e-mails, writing articles, on radio and internet, and on and on. There have been many faithful watchman in Israel who have not kept silent—but proclaimed the evil things going on—and they are still not silent. Day and night they warn people in their websites, their articles, and in all ways at their disposal. They are faithful believers in Messiah Yahushua and also guard His commandments. There are also a few Orthodox Jews sounding the alarm, for they also believe that Messiah is coming and that the Jews need to “come home” as quickly as possible to the Land.

But, the gatekeepers are intercessors—they stand at the gates between the King’s throne and the outside world—to guard what belongs to the King, to prophesy, declare and proclaim the word of the King, but also in prayer to guard the gates against the enemy in spiritual warfare and intercession.

This is why it is important to know how to do this correctly—in the garments of the High Priest. Ephesians 6:10-18 is not the armor of a defiled Roman soldier. It says it is “Elohim’s armor”. It is actually the garments of the Zadok (righteous) priesthood from Aaron—Exodus 28. The requirements and qualifications of a gatekeeper/warrior in the spirit are very high—Levitical in nature. It is a priestly job to intercede at the gates. We see this in Nehemiah 13. According to Exodus 28, no one should intercede for the people unless the “gold plate or crown” is on their forehead—in the spirit—on which was engraved “Set-Apart to Yahuweh”. Unless the intercessor—the gatekeeper—is pure of heart, totally submitted to Yahuweh, set-apart unto Him by His Spirit—then a person has no right to be an intercessor. In Isaiah 59, Messiah could find no intercessor (a qualified one), so He took on the garments of the High Priest and went forth to judge.

This job of gate keeping is a job which includes judgment. The gatekeeper must be able to judge, otherwise a dangerous person might enter the kingdom. But, no one has the right to judge unless they do so under the authority of the High Priest—our Messiah Yahushua. Yet, we see that the Zadok priests of the millennium under Messiah (Ezekiel 44:23-24) not only teach, but judge.

The gate keeper makes strategic pronouncements—as to who comes in and who doesn’t. This is a type of judgment. He must be wise and discerning not to let anything into the realm of Yahuweh—the realm of His people--that is going to defile and destroy His people.

There are many types of gates—even our mouth is a gate that we all must guard. Our communication to others is a gate, in any form—and we must only give out what He says to give out.

The watchman sees from a distance. The gatekeeper sees up close. The

Page 4

gatekeeper is on the ground to turn back the attacker—not letting them through the gate. The gate keeper must love His people fervently!

Isaiah 28:5-6: “In that day (the day of Yahuweh) Yahuweh of hosts is for a crown of splendor and a head-dress of comeliness to the remnant of His people, and a spirit of right-ruling to him who sits in right-ruling and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate”. The battle is won or lost at the gate!

Amos 5:15: “Hate evil and love good and set up right ruling in the gate. It might be that Yahuweh Elohim of hosts shows favor to the remnant of Joseph”.

In these last days, a remnant of the “house of Joseph” – or the ten not-lost-anymore tribes of Jacob that were scattered into all nations from 950-722BCE, are returning to the Land or will be returning, and we must pray that they not be stopped by the evils of man. We must pray for their protection and guidance to the ports of safety that Yahuweh has designated in His Word.

In Amos 5:10 we see the truth: “They hated the one who reproves in the gate and they despise the one who speaks the truth”. Isaiah 59:14-16: “And right-ruling is driven back and righteousness stands far off. For truth has fallen in the street and right is unable to enter. The truth is lacking and whoever turns away from evil makes himself a prey. And He saw that there was no man and was astonished that there was no intercessor. So His own arm saved for Him, and his righteousness upheld Him”.

The gatekeeper is responsible to tell the truth and stand for righteousness. The gatekeeper is also responsible to guard the secrets of the King—not to let anyone and everyone know what the King is doing. There are secrets that He only shares with His trusted ones—Amos 3:7. Many times He does not want these secrets given out—as in Matthew 13, He says that only the few—His servants—need to know what He is doing. A man of honor knows how to keep his mouth shut when need be. The greatest of men are quiet and private—especially regarding their employer’s business and their business!

The gatekeeper guards the truth for the house of Jacob. The gatekeeper stands for right-rulings and judges correctly as Messiah does in Isaiah 11.

In November 2005, the Father shocked me when I was praying. He said clearly to my spirit: “You are a gatekeeper”. The gatekeeper is a chosen position, as we will see in Scripture later on. I am still a watchman. I am compelled to warn as many as I can about what is coming and now is at our doorstep. It is a deep passion in my soul and spirit. But, also, at times He has me guarding the gates (ports and borders). Do not limit the Father on what He wants you to do! The more faithful and obedient you are, the more He will give you responsibility in the Kingdom.

I don’t share these things about myself to elevate myself in any way—far from it! But, you who know me personally know that in sharing I only want to give examples of the work of the expanding work of the Father. To Him be all the honor and esteem!

Page 5

If we want to be in His Kingdom, then we must lay aside all things that are not important and focus our part in preparation for His Kingdom. It is our eternal destiny that is at stake here. Now, His great focus is to return the whole house of Jacob before the great world holocaust of World War III begins. He wants us to be astute and available to do His will in these last days. I am a grandmother—and realize the limitations of my age—yet I do not limit the Father. But, all can get a world map and a map of Israel and pray.

The gates turn two ways—to open and to close. At the King’s command we do which either is necessary. Remember: The gatekeeper must only do what the King desires! The gatekeeper, if he is a good one, obeys the laws of the Kingdom and the King for which he does business. No lawless person can be a watchman or a gatekeeper, or even a participant in the Kingdom of Messiah. The authority level is different for these two callings. The watchman must not go to sleep on the job—it is a very strategic position. The King trusts the watchman to blow the shofar (the trumpet) loud and clear when the enemy is seen approaching. Then the gate can be closed.

The gatekeeper stands to defend the Kingdom at the gate—“to turn back the battle at the gate”. Gate keepers must be strong-willed and fearless. They must be strong in resolve to do right, uncompromising, faithful, and willing to lay down their life to defend what is under the rule of the King.

The gatekeeper has a higher authority-level than the watchman--given to him by the King to act on his own—to use his own judgment. The position has more variety of tasks to perform. The King trusts the gatekeeper. There is a relationship between the gatekeeper and the King that others do not have. He represents the King and speaks for the King. He makes decisions for the King. He has to know the King’s desires, will, and decrees. He can’t go against what the King wants, if he is a good gatekeeper.

The gatekeeper must make instant decisions, at times involving many lives. Therefore, his first allegiance is to the King and His people.

These two positions work together to guard the Kingdom. The watchman is also a trusted position. But, the watchman has one job—to watch and clearly warn so that all hear the warning. He must do it any way he can. The watchman can warn the general multitude, and each individual can accept or reject his warning as they will. But, when the enemy is at the gate, the gatekeeper must station himself with all of his might to hold off the attack.

If we are to guard what is the Father’s, we must learn to guard our own lives. We must guard our self against sin and defilement.

We must guard the door of our mouth: Amos 5:13 – “Therefore the wise keep silent at that time, for it is an evil time”. We must guard even our thoughts—II Corinthians 10:5. If we allow things of the enemy into our lives, then we are responsible for what happens. We have five gates of the soul—called “the five senses”--the strongest being the eyes. What we allow our eyes to see and our

Page 6

ears to hear is what comes into our mind and emotions and can either lift us up or take us down.

We must control what we watch and hear, so that nothing defiled is taken in—if possible. Messiah said over and over in the four Gospels and in the book of Revelation: “Be careful what you hear”.

King David wrote: “I will set no wicked thing before my eyes”. If a person enjoys watching others sin (called “entertainment”) via T.V., videos, movies, books, magazines, or internet—any way—then they are opening doors for the

sins of those they watch or hear to become their own sins. In other words if sin is condoned, it is accepted as OK—therefore the watcher or reader of sin will be judged as an accomplice to sin. If you pay money to watch a movie and there is sin in the movie, you are an accomplice—even paying the wicked writer of the script with your money. Messiah said that not only having an “affair” constituted adultery, but also if a man lusts after a woman in his mind, he is guilty of adultery. (Matthew 5) We are all gatekeepers every day in what we allow, what we condone, what we do and say. We will be judged as to what we allow or disallow in our lives.

The gatekeeper has many tasks—all involving judgments. The watchman of Hosea 8:1 must blow the shofar to warn the people of their sins—to call them to repentance. He watches the evil approaching and warns the people to not be deceived. He is a defender of the faith. (Jude)

Mordecai was trusted by the Persian King at the gates (Esther 2:21-22). Lot was a gatekeeper (Genesis 19:1-3)—trusted by the King of Sodom. Lot allowed the two angels to come into Sodom. These were the ones who finally delivered him from that awful place. Daniel was a gatekeeper for the King of Babylon (Daniel 2:48-49). This was a very high position—King Nebuchadnezzar trusted Daniel. To be found “trustworthy” and faithful is a very high quality, in the kingdoms of this world, and in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Moses was a gatekeeper of the Red Sea. In Exodus 14: 21 and 27, he used the rod of his authority to open the sea so that Yahuweh’s people could enter, and then to close the sea upon His enemies—Pharaoh and his armies.

There is temptation always present in guarding gates. The gatekeepers were often tempted to take bribes. It is easy to be flattered and allow things into gates under our authority that are wrong. There are manipulators that give gifts to gatekeepers and do them favors--expecting the favors to be returned when needed. Gatekeepers must beware of such sly deceptions. Proverbs 22:22: “Do not rob the poor because he is poor and oppress not the afflicted at the gate”. Our Father is no respecter of persons!

Isaiah 26:1-2: “In that day this song is sung in the land of Judah: `We have a strong city—He sets up deliverance, walls and ramparts. OPEN THE GATES, LET THE RIGHTEOUS NATION THAT GUARDS THE TRUTH ENTER IN”. We look forward to that day!

A righteous gatekeeper is not controlled or controllable by others. The King and the gatekeeper have a trusting relationship that is extremely valuable.

Page 7

In intercession we stand before the King on the behalf of His people to open or to close gates—it is a priestly role. Elijah, in I Kings 17:1, stood before wicked King Ahab on behalf of Yahuweh and said: “As Yahuweh Elohim lives, before whom I stand, there shall be no dew or rain these years, except at my word”. It did not rain for 3 ½ years until He prayed for it to rain—I Kings 18:41-46. He was a gatekeeper of the will of Yahuweh. He stood before King Yahuweh, and Yahuweh trusted him to shut the heavens, and then to open them--at Elijah’s word. Elijah could speak on his own because he was a

faithful doorkeeper of the will of Yahuweh. A gatekeeper is constantly being tested to see if he is judging by right-rulings or using false judgments.

A gate is also a border, a boundary, a limit – as in Jeremiah 5:22-24—using the example of the sea boundaries, Yahuweh shows that His people have crossed His boundaries and borders and gone off on their own against His will.

The gatekeeper can be a teacher of righteousness, as Zadok, who maintains the standards and boundaries of the King of the Kingdom. Teaching, if done by the Ruach Yahuweh, sets the boundaries of Yahuweh in the lives of His people—the Torah set boundaries.

Hebrews 3:1-2: “Therefore, set-apart brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession—Messiah Yahushua—who was faithful to Him that appointed Him, so also Moses was faithful in all his house”. The Bridegroom, Yahushua, is looking for an exclusive relationship with His Bride—a woman who is faithful to Him—who puts no other “gods” in His face.

The gate is a place of justice or injustice—truth or a lack of truth. The boundaries for Yahuweh’s gatekeepers are set by His Word. The Word of the King is the limitation and boundary of the decisions made by the gatekeeper. The gatekeeper is vulnerable to attacks of jealousy, competition and anger, of retaliation and slander and all sorts of evil because of the line he has to draw in the sand—the rules he has to uphold—in maintaining his position.

Amos 5:10: “They hated the one who reproves in the gate, and they despise the one who speaks truth”.

Haman wanted to kill all the Jews because of the actions of Mordecai the gatekeeper (Esther). Mordecai was no “respecter of persons” and offended Haman. The gatekeeper cannot “bend the rules” for his friends, if he is to maintain right-ruling.

Matthew 16:13,18: Messiah says that the “gates of hell will not prevail against His assemblies”. He is the watchman over His people and the gatekeeper over His sheep.

Without the backing of the King neither the watchman nor the gatekeeper is of any use. The watchman is set in position by the people who trust him.

The gatekeeper has keys. In Matthew 16:19, Messiah says to Peter: “I give you the keys OF the Kingdom”. The keys must be protected and only used as the King instructs. The faithful watchman and gatekeeper are rewarded greatly—if

Page 8

they do their job correctly. The gatekeeper is usually sent by the King to the gate with the keys that He wants opened.

I was sitting on a ledge by a shop in Aqaba, waiting for the owner to open the shop. Many were coming, looking in the shop, rattling the door knob and going away disgusted. Then the owner came with the key. The people entered and were happy. There is a key for each door—each door has its own key and the

key to one door usually won’t open another door. While sitting there the Father’s Spirit (Ruach) spoke this to my spirit: “Intercession must be done on site—prayer can be done anywhere”. Intercession is the gatekeeper opening

the lock for the right ones to come in. Intercession can also lock the door so that the enemy is locked out.

I find that He sends me to the site of where I will do intercession. But, I know of other reliable intercessors, who at times have been taken spiritually to the gates while they were in intercession for that place.

Deuteronomy 25:7: The gates were where the elders of Israel sat…the elders had the right to judge civil cases and execute punishment. Therefore the gates were places of not only judgment as to who entered and who didn’t, but judgment in civil matters regarding the people of the Kingdom.

Warning: These things must be understood from a Hebrew prospective. No one who is not keeping the Torah (Yahuweh’s teachings, instructions, and right-rulings of the law of the Kingdom of heaven) has any business in either of these positions. One cannot be “lawless”—and be in the service of the King of the Kingdom. Unless one is in proper relationship with the King, they will make

false judgments based on their own thinking. We must know the “voice” of the Ruach Yahuweh to our spirit. He speaks in many, many ways. We must know the Word—from Genesis to Revelation—well enough to know His nature and His ways. Decisions must be made by the direction of the Ruach Yahuweh (the Spirit of Yahuweh).

I Corinthians 12:10: Without this gift of discernment of spirits, judgment will be faulty. This gift of the Ruach Yahuweh gives us the ability to discern man’s spirit (whether good or bad), demonic presence and activity in someone, or the presence and activity of the Ruach Yahuweh. We also must use this gift of discernment in our own lives—to discern what is of the Father and what is not. This will save us untold amounts of heartache, grief and tragedy.

No one should be a watchman or an intercessor or gatekeeper unless they are filled with the Ruach and know His voice (John 10). No one should take on these responsibilities who do not know His Word—which is His will. No one should take on these responsibilities if they do not understand the nature and the mind of the King. Otherwise, their decisions will be greatly faulty—causing others to be destroyed. No one should take on this responsibility who does not keep the laws (Torah: Instructions and Teachings) of the Kingdom of heaven. We are responsible to uphold, guard and teach the boundaries of Yahuweh for His people—as identifying signs that we belong to Him. (Matthew 5:18-19)

Page 9

The Father is letting me know that I must maintain a pure channel for Him to work through or I disqualify myself. I understand a new severity in His dealing with me, so I am more careful than ever to guard all gates in my own life, so that I can effectively guard the gates for Israel and Judah.

**Therefore, these two positions require a person to “stand alone” if necessary in their judgments and warnings and decisions, because they cannot rely on someone else to tell them how to do their job!

Revelation 3:7: Yahushua identifies Himself as the one who opens and closes doors. “He who is set-apart, He who is true, He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens says this: `I

know your works. See, I have set before you and open door and no one is able to shut it.’”

Meaning of “gate, gates”: Hebrew #8179 (James Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible) -- “shah’ar”: “gate, an opening, door, gate, port, city entrance”. Other words for gate also carry the same meanings—entranceways, portals, something swinging in and out like a door or gate.

“Border”: #1366 “steb-ool” from #1379: a twisted chord, a boundary, enclosed territory, border, coast, landmark, space, limit”...From #3411: “to flank”

“Border” #7097 “kay-tseh: “an extremity, border, edge, frontier, shoreline, an utmost part”…#7093 “kates”: “an extremity, infinite end, utmost border” (See Jeremiah 50:26—the attack on end-time Babel (America) comes from the “utmost borders”…Alaska, Cuba…Florida…Mexico. We must, as U.S. citizens, guard the borders of our own country in prayer and intercession.

Clarification: Prayer primarily is to hear His will—to communicate with Him and get our instructions. Intercession is primarily to declare and proclaim His will into the earth! Messiah spent whole nights in prayer with the Father, then He went out to do and to say what the Father told Him.

The watchman guards the territory of the King. The gatekeeper guards the gates or the entry portals of the King’s territory!

Immigration and customs officials guard borders of countries. Port officials guard what comes in and out of a sea port, or train or land port.

Many countries have “check points” along the highways – like Israel – where officials check identification of those inside the country.

To cross land borders, or enter into sea ports, or to come by airplane and cross into another country’s airspace, there are specific requirements.

The Father has put very strict and specific requirements on coming into His presence in the Most Set-Apart Place in His Temple in heaven. Kings and Presidents and Prime Ministers of all countries have requirements as to who

comes into their presence and who doesn’t. The Scriptures of Yahuweh give explicit instructions as to how we are to approach Yahuweh and Yahushua.

Every day we enter places and exit places. There are requirements for each place we enter or exit. In the spiritual realm, the gatekeeper must only open to those whom the King desires to come in—and there are requirements.

He has His Land and His territory in the earth and in the hearts of His people.

Page 10

We are responsible to open and shut the gates of our own spirit, soul and body, so that we don’t take in what is defiled or impure. We are responsible to pray over the borders of sea, land and air, in His Land, and to pray for the protection of His people, so that no evil one enters.

Ezekiel 3:17; 33:1-7 and Isaiah 21:6-12 tell us the job of the watchman.

Ezekiel 33:2-7: He is to be chosen from the coast or border. The “coast” is also a border. The word “coast” is #7097 in Strong’s Concordance and means: “sea, river, lake, extreme border, utmost coast, shore line”.

The watchman has a prophetic role—to speak the Word of warning from Yahuweh. He must not speak on his own—or he is a false prophet. Therefore,

the watchman is often set into the “office of the Prophet” by Elohim.

“Son of man, speak to the children of your people and say unto them `When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man

of their coasts and sat him for the watchman, if when he sees the sword coming upon the land he blow the trumpet and warn the people, then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet, and takes not warning, if the sword comes, and takes him away, his blood shall be upon his own head...And if the watchman sees the sword come and blows not the trumpet and the people be not warned, if the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity, but blood will I require at the watchman’s hand. So you, son of man, I have set as a watchman unto the house of Israel, therefore you shall hear the word at My mouth and warn them from Me”.

I Corinthians 14:8: “If the trumpet gives an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself for the battle”?

Isaiah 21:6-12: “For thus Yahuweh has said unto me, `Go set a watchman—let him declare what he sees. And he saw a chariot with a pair of horsemen, a chariot of donkeys, and a chariot of camels, and he listened attentively, very attentively. The he cried like a lion, “O Yahuweh!” `I stand continually on the watchtower in the day time and have sat at my

post every night. And see this—a chariot of men coming with a pair of horsemen!’ And he spoke up and said, `Babel is fallen, is fallen! And all the carved images of her might ones He has broken to the ground’. Oh, my threshing and the grain of my floor! That which I have heard from Yahuweh of hosts, the Elohim of Israel, I have declared unto you. The message concerning Dumah (Edom): He calls to me out of Mt. Seir (in Edom—Petra) `Watchman, how much of the night has passed’? …the watchman said, `Morning comes, but also the night. If you inquire, inquire. Come again!’”

This is a prophecy for our day too: Compare the wording with Revelation 18.

Habakkuk 2:1-2: “I stand at my watch, and station myself on the watch-tower, and wait to see what He says to me, and what to answer when I am reproved. And Yahuweh answered me and said `Write the vision and

Page 11

inscribe it on tablets, so that he who reads it runs’ (with the message to declare it)”. (All Italics above are mine)

Notice that writing what he saw and heard can also be a part of a watchman’s duties. The Apostle John was instructed to write what he saw and heard—thus we have The Revelation.

Many of my warnings are not just in teaching or preaching, but in writing articles and studies that go many places. By ALL MEANS, if we are a watchman, we must warn—whether by speaking or writing, using all sorts of methods that He gives to us. Our mouth can be a shofar as well as our writing instruments (whether pen, pencil, or typewriter, or computer keyboard). The

watchman is available for duty 24/7. This is why we must be a pure channel for Him to speak to us, and through us, as He needs us.

The written Word (Greek: “Logos”) is His prophetic will given to us to obey. But, His written word must be proclaimed and declared by His servants to bring it into the earth—so that it “does not return to Him void” (Isaiah 55)—thus making it the spoken Word (Greek: “Rhema”). He wants us to proclaim His Word loudly into the earth—proclaim His set-apart Name into the earth also.

King David said in Psalm 84:10: “For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand days elsewhere. I have chosen rather to be a doorkeeper in the house of my Elohim than to dwell in the tents of the wicked”.

King David did not have false humility in this statement. Being a doorkeeper in the House of Yahuweh is a position of responsibility in the Kingdom which puts the gatekeeper in a close relationship with the King--a trusted position. From the gate, the gatekeeper can know all the business of the Kingdom. He is an insider! The gatekeeper knows the King, and the King knows the gatekeeper. They work together to keep peace in the kingdom. They interact oftentimes with each other. The King may instruct the gatekeeper to let in an important person without questions, thus the gatekeeper gets to meet the V.I.P. dignitaries of the King’s realm.

The gatekeeper keeps the peace of the Kingdom many times by turning away the evil ones at the gates. Zechariah 8:16: “These are the words you should speak: Speak truth to one another, judge with truth and right-ruling, for peace in your gates”.

II Chronicles 9:21-23: “Zechariah son of Meshelemyah was gatekeeper at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. All those chosen as gatekeepers at the thresholds were two hundred and twelve. They were registered by genealogy, in their villages. David and Samuel the seer had appointed them to THEIR OFFICE OF TRUST. And they and their sons were over the gates of the house of Yahuweh…by watches.”

Mark 13:33-37, regarding the return of Messiah: “Take heed, watch and pray, for you do not know when the time is…as a man going abroad, having left his house and given authority to his servants and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper (same as a gatekeeper) to watch. Watch

Page 12

therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening or at midnight or at the crowing of the cock, or in the morning , lest coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all `Watch’”.

In a sense, we are all gatekeepers of some gate, door, border, or coast.

In a sense, we are all watchmen—for we must warn people of the deceptions and lies that will destroy multi-millions in the days to come. That means that we are responsible as His bond-slaves to keep abreast of what is going on in the world, and what He is doing. We are responsible to Him through obedience to His Word, and to hear from Him what He wants us to do and to do it.

John 10:1-3, 9: “Truly, truly I say to you, `he who does not enter through the door into the sheepfold but climbs up another way--that one is a thief

and a robber. But he who enters through the door is the shepherd of the sheep. And the doorkeeper opens for him, and the sheep hear his voice. And he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out…I am the door. Whoever enters through Me shall be saved, and shall go in and out and find pasture.”

Psalm 118:19-20; John 3: 3, 5; Matthew 7:13-14: As with John 10:9, these verses speak to us about our eternal salvation: “Open to me the gates of righteousness. I enter through them; I thank Yah. This is the gate of Yahuweh, the righteous enter through it”. We know that Messiah is the gate to our eternal salvation!

John 3:3, 5: “Yahushua …said, `Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born from above, he is unable to see the reign of Elohim…Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he is unable to enter into the reign of Elohim”.

Matthew 7:13-14: “Enter in through the narrow gate! Because the gate is wide—and the way is broad—that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in through it. Because the gate is narrow and way is hard pressed that lads to life, and there are FEW who find it”.

Matthew 7:21-23: Here we see people who have thought of themselves as His

ministers, yet he rejects them from entering His Kingdom because they have practiced “lawlessness”—they have rejected His commandments.

Revelation 21:27 and Revelation 22:14: These verses tell us that in the eternal state that not just anyone in the Kingdom can approach the throne of Yahuweh and Yahushua—only those who have kept His commandments.

Matthew 16:19: “And I give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven”. Note -- From The Scriptures: “Binding and loosing is a Hebrew idiom for exercising authority (to prohibit or permit). Gatekeepers have the authority to loose things to go that are binding His people, or in any way harming His people.

Gatekeepers in intercession use the keys to prohibit things of the enemy and to loose things of Elohim into the earth. Man gave this earth to Satan in his form

Page 13

as Lucifer (the illumined, light bearer). The true intercessor opens gates for His people to go through to victory. The true intercessor also opens gates for the entrance of Yahuweh to take charge into this world’s realm. He must be invited. This is why we are instructed to call for Messiah to come.

He has allowed His servants on this earth to carry His Word into the earth, preparing the way for the fulfillment of it. We are the voice in the “wilderness” crying: “Prepare the way of Yahuweh”.

He uses declaration, proclamation and intercession to break through the lines of the enemy for His purposes to take place in the earth. Satan tempted Yahushua, telling Him that if He would bow to him, he would give Him the

Kingdoms of this world? (Matthew 4) Satan had the right to give Yahushua the kingdoms of this world at that point, because man had given them to him. Yahushua, before Pilate, said: “My Kingdom is not of this world”. Paul refers to Satan as “the god of this world”. By the cries of His Bride, He will break through with the wrath of the Father and reclaim the earth, redeem it, and redeem His set-apart ones and take over.

This is a new concept to many, but in my years of study and intercession, I realize that the Word proves this to be true. He comes for the cries of His people. He waited until they cried loud, hard and long, until He sent Moses to

deliver them from Egypt. When He saw Mary and the Jews crying, He raised Lazarus. This is why Amos 3:7 tells us that He does nothing unless He first

reveals His secrets to His servants the prophets. What do prophets do? They proclaim His Word, His will, into the earth--loud and clear. (Isaiah 55:7-13)

Without invitation, Yahuweh won’t enter into any situation. If He could just bowl down doors at will—surely He would save everyone, for that is His desire. But, He waits for people to invite Him into their lives. He comes for faith—“without faith it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11:6). He has to have a servant to open doors by faith for Him to come in and do what He desires. This subject is very extensive, and best understood by those who are willing to obey and take the risks to do His will in the earth. He needs risk-takers for His glory!

Micah 2:12-13: “I shall certainly gather all of you O Jacob. I shall bring together the remnant of Israel, and put them together like sheep of the fold, like a flock in the midst of their pasture, they being noisy because of men. The breach-maker (the breaker/the one who breaks through the gate) shall go up before them. They shall break out, and pass through the gates and go out by it, and their king shall pass before them, with Yahuweh at their head!” (Italics mine)

This is a powerful verse for intercession over ports and land borders to do with the future exodus of all of His people out of all nations. There are hundreds of verses in the Scriptures that tell us that He will bring back the “whole house of Jacob”—all 13 tribes—in these last days. When Exodus 14 is repeated, and the need for the parting of the seas or land borders is needed for the escape of His set-apart remnant, the declaration of the gatekeeper must be loud and strong—

Page 14

As His people flee out of all nations, a remnant will escape alive. As in the battle array of Numbers 10, the house of David will go first, then the whole tribe of Judah, then the other tribes (as per Zechariah 8:23) –but leading them out and through the gates will be Yahuweh Himself!

Through intercession in the “garments of the High Priest”—backed by His authority and trust, the true gatekeeper is alerted day and night. The watchman is on duty day and night also—available for intercession whenever the Master calls on His servant. The gatekeeper’s job is a daily job… because there are all sorts of gates to guard. But the gatekeeper must ONLY GUARD

THE GATES that the King allots to him! We cannot take on ministry that is not of Him!

He has many gatekeepers in many nations, in many places. He has many watchmen on the walls of many places. In Isaiah 62:6-7, there are watchmen who have this mandate: “I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem, all the day and all the night continually, who are not silent. You who remember Yahuweh, give yourselves no rest, and give Him no rest until He establishes and until He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth”.

This is a calling! We must all pray for Jerusalem, but do you notice the

requirements for this job --“give yourselves no rest”. Not all are called to this type of intercession.

In 1996, the Father sent me to Mongolia for three months. Through my presence there, following the leading of the Ruach Yahuweh, and through intercession, He used me to open up the country of Mongolia to the good news of Messiah (a most unusual story!)

From September until December of 1999, the Father sent me to Russia. He sent me to the border of Russia and China on the Amur and Zaya Rivers. I was to prophesy and proclaim His will into China, for the border with China was just across the Amur River. He wanted one thing proclaimed: “LET MY PEOPLE GO”. The Beijing government is not letting the Jews of China return to Israel. In places where Jews in China have lived for centuries, they are taking their Jewish documents away from them and then returning them without their Jewish identity. The nation of Israel has petitioned Beijing for years to let them come home without results.

I heard of a man who was sent to the Berlin Wall to lay his hands on it and proclaim that it come down. He was a gatekeeper—proclaiming that the wall come down, and the gates be opened to all people from the East of Germany to come into the West.

Steve Lightle was sent in 1973 to Russia, to proclaim that the gates of Russia open for the outpouring of His people at a time when it looked impossible that the Jews would be able to leave Russia. Father answers the prayers or the proclamations of His gatekeepers, for they only speak His will into the earth. He can only fulfill His Word. (Isaiah 55) He cannot go beyond the boundaries He has set for Himself.

As watchmen over Israel, we become a part of Israel possessing the “gates of

Page 15

their enemies”. Genesis 24:60: “And they blessed Rebecca and said to her, `Let our sister become the mother of thousands of ten thousands, and let

your seed possess the gates of those who hate them’”. Rebecca was the wife of Isaac, and indeed the seed of Isaac and Jacob has possessed the gates of their enemies and the gates of those who hate them. The house of Jacob—the thirteen tribes—have been the world’s rulers, and masters of high civilization and maintainers of right justice and law. They settled in the most beautiful and productive areas of the world, have had the most powerful militaries and the most brilliant scientists and doctors.

We’re talking not just about just the tribe of Judah—we’re talking about the “house of Israel” which Yahuweh scattered into all nations. Through the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the world has been greatly blessed! (Genesis 12:3)

There are gates all over Jerusalem. At Passover 2003, the Father sent me to the City of David to proclaim over that ancient area of the real Zion (the one where David’s palace was and the wall of Nehemiah), that the King would enter there and take His rest. (Psalm 132:12-13)

Most of the book of Nehemiah is about gate-repair. In order to re-build the destroyed gates, they had many enemies to fight—from without and within.

Nehemiah 12:45, 47: Those put in charge of gate keeping are Levites – they intercede--function as mediators--between those wishing to come or go out.

Nehemiah 13: Nehemiah finds that merchants are selling their food and goods on Shabbat within the gates of Jerusalem. Nehemiah is a gatekeeper. He gets rid of all these merchants and locks the gates against their coming in, until Shabbat is over. He even runs them away from the gates, so that they don’t push into the city at sunset after Shabbat.

Jeremiah 7:1-2 and 17:20-27: Jeremiah is told to stand in the gate of the Temple and proclaim the Word of Yahuweh. “And you shall say to them, `Hear the Word of Yahuweh, you sovereigns of Judah, and all Judah, and all inhabitants of Jerusalem who enter by these gates’. Thus says Yahuweh, `Guard yourselves and bear no burden on the Shabbat day, nor bring it in by the gates into Jerusalem….and you shall set-apart the Shabbat day, as I have commanded your fathers…and it shall be that if you diligently obey Me’, declares Yahuweh, `to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the Shabbat day, and set apart the Shabbat day and do no work in it, then sovereigns and heads sitting on the throne of David shall enter in through the gates of this city, riding in chariots and upon horses, they and their heads—the men of Judah. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem and this city shall be inhabited forever’”.

Yet we know that because they did not honor the Shabbat, today the prophecies of the destruction of Jerusalem loom close and closer. A remnant who honors His Shabbat and is humble and obedient to His Torah, who has faith in Messiah Yahushua, will rule and reign with Him in the city of Jerusalem. He

Page 16

always has His uncompromising remnant!

In prayer and intercession, we can guard the gates of Jerusalem so that the

righteous remnant will enter. At the coming of Messiah, He will come through the Eastern Gate of the Temple Mount. I strongly recommend that you get a map of Jerusalem, and a map or pictures of the gates of the Temple Mount. Seeing these gates will help you pray more clearly.

In our own lives the word “NO” is a powerful gate-shutter. We can say “NO” to things that are not of him, thus closing the door to the enemy of our soul.

Psalm 107:18: Death has a gate. In praying for healing for those who are in life-threatening situations, as the Spirit gives understanding we can rebuke the

“gates of death”…even as Messiah and the Apostles did many times.

Ephesians 6:10-18 gives us the garments of the High Priest—the warrior of

Yahuweh. As we “stand” in the “power of His might”, clothed in His garments, we have authority to allow or not allow things that pertain to others situations, as well as our own. The High Priest had to first intercede for himself, then for the people. We must allow the Ruach Yahuweh to change us “from glory to glory” into the image of Messiah—removing from us those things that are

impure—that clog up the channel which He wants to use for His purposes.

(II Corinthians 3:17-18)

Ezekiel 47:13-14: The land borders of the Kingdom of Messiah—the land of Israel in the future. Ezekiel 48:--gives the individual borders of the tribes. We can pray now over these borders for the remnant of His people.

It is the remnant that will rule and reign with Him, and most of this remnant is now trapped inside man-made borders with restrictions that keep them from getting out. In the days to come of World War III, more restrictions will be put on the set-apart ones (Daniel 7). We must pray for the remnant of the last great exodus—the world-wide fleeing soon to come!

For now, we are in a Kingdom not of this world, but soon His Kingdom will take over the entire earth. If we are faithful to His positioning of us in any manner, then we can rule with Him. If we are not faithful, we not only won’t rule with Him, there is a big possibility that we won’t be able to enter the Kingdom at all. We must let go of all obstructions to following Him totally. Our eternal position is at stake. We know that the eternal Kingdom will be on a renewed earth, with the Father’s City coming down here. “The meek (gentile, kind, humble and obedient) inherit the earth”. (Psalm 37) (Italics mine)

Not all are positioned as watchmen or gatekeepers over Kingdom affairs. But we all are gatekeepers over our own lives. We must all “watch and pray”.

We are only responsible to fulfill the tasks He gives us.

The one thing we want to hear said to us by our Messiah at the “judgment seat of Messiah” is: “Well done, good and faithful servant--you have been faithful over a few things. I will make you ruler over much. Enter into the joy of Yahuweh”. (Matthew 25:21) He is the ultimate watchman over us, and the ultimate gatekeeper! (Psalm 121:3-8)

Blessings, joy, peace and love,
