Big bang theory cast member dies of cancer

This is one of the most popular series on television. And the Walking Dead universe is so believable, and so beloved by fans, that it is almost impossible to imagine its actors in any other roles. But that doesn't mean that performers who implement our favorite characters into life didn't need to play other parts before they started fighting the undone. In fact, many actors have had successful careers in some seriously popular TV shows and movies. Some of the most successful actors have already left us, as their characters are long gone. Scott Wilson, who played good-hearted Herschel, appeared in the iconic film Cold Blood in his younger years. And Sarah Wayne-Callie, the woman behind Laurie, was far less controversial during her time on Prison Break. But here are five current Walking Dead who were once better known by previous roles. 1. Andrew Lincoln -- Love Actually Source: StudioCanal, Work Movies, DNA Movies We all know him as Rick Grimes, the sometimes reluctant leader of our not very cheerful group of survivors. But Andrew Lincoln was an accomplished actor before he booked the lead role on The Walking Dead. The 42-year-old native of Loncon appeared in the successful British series This Life and Teachers for several years in the early 2000s. But he made his biggest pre-TWD waves on our side bid for his little but memorable moments in a so-so-much better than most rom-com hit Love Actually. If you've seen the movie, there's no way you can forget the scene. After his heroine Markle accidentally reveals to his best friend's wife Juliet (Kiera Knightley) that he is secretly in love with her, he appears in her home on Christmas Eve. And, in order not to warn his friend, he tells her his story on a series of big cards. Never pronouncing a word, he postpones it all, giving out more than a few romantic and decent GIFs moments in just a few minutes. While Lincoln says very little in Love Actually, his emotions are written all over his face. And this compelling performance made him watch long before it became mainstream compulsory television. 2. Alexandra Breckenridge - American Horror Story Source: FX As a resident of Alexandria and domestic violence survivor Jesse Anderson, Alexandra Breckenridge impressed fans and critics of The Walking Dead. But this isn't the first time the 33-year-old native of Connecticut has earned attention on powerful small-screen performance. In the first season of American Horror Story FX: Murder House, she played the younger incarnation of Moyra, a housewife with a dark secret. Moira appears as a conflicted Ben (Dylan McDermott) wants to see her - young, sultry and desperate for his love. And Breckenridge played a role with aplomb, turning it into an almost flirtatious caricature, as well as revealing its hidden depths. 3. Norman Reedus - Boondock Saints Source: Franchise Pictures, Brood Syndicate, Fried Films, Lloyd Segan Co., Chris Brinker Production There May Not Be on The Walking Dead that fans are more enthusiastic than Daryl Dixon. And much has to do with Norman Reedus's nuanced performance as a rebellious survivor. The 46-year-old native of Florida was also one of the most acclaimed actors in the cast when he was cast - and mostly thanks to his performance in the beloved, super-violent crime drama Boondock Saints. He plays Murphy McManus, a hot vigilante who objects with his twin brother Connor (Sean Patrick Flannery) to rid Boston of numerous bad guys. Although the film was initially a failure, it has since earned cult status among fans who particularly love Reedus's rapport with Flannery and his blistering, peerless performance. 4. Seth Gilliam - The Wire Source: HBO The Walking Dead often picked up the cast of HBO's critically acclaimed masterpiece, The Wire. But the only graduate now still standing is Seth Gilliam, who plays scandalous preacher Gabriel Stokes. But the 46-year-old is no stranger to playing complex characters. His Wire character, Ellis Carver, is constantly torn between putting his career first and doing the right thing. And Gilliam played this inner struggle perfectly, giving us a man who is able to joke and work next to the people he stabs in the back. 5. Lenny James - Jericho Source: CBS Morgan is one of the fan favorite characters of The Walking Dead - and until recently he remained a largely mysterious figure. And Lenny James brought the same level of gravitas and inhospitability to his performance as Rob Hawkins in the critically acclaimed CBS series, Jericho. Hawkins is a complete mystery when we meet him, and by slowly revealing himself, he is becoming more exciting. Although Jericho was canceled too soon, James made every moment when he was on screen really memorable. More from entertainment cheat sheet: When a celebrity is diagnosed or dies of cancer, he tends to make news. This, of course, can lead to many things, but one important thing is the often heightened awareness of different types of cancer and the importance of knowing their symptoms and getting screened if appropriate. The death of these people has undoubtedly caused many to reflect on their own overall health and cancer risk. Kevin Winter / Getty Images (August 18, 1952 to September 14, 2009) Best known for his roles in Ghost and Dirty Dancing, Patrick Swayze has proven himself a true fighter, working full-time, undergoing intensive chemotherapy to treat pancreatic cancer. Swayze's cancer treatment included an experimental drug called vatalanib, which aims to inhibit the activity of an enzyme that promotes the growth and spread of cancer cells. Swayze was determined not to let cancer change it. Somehow he managed to live almost two years with the disease, which is usually fatal within months of diagnosis. (January 26, 1925 to September 26, 2008) When the pictures began to appear in 2008 fragile Paul Newman, the media began to that the Hollywood icon was sick. His publicist candidly crushed the rumors by issuing statements claiming the actor was doing beautifully. Today we know that Paul Newman secretly battled lung cancer. Newman was a private man in life, so it's no wonder he'd like to spend his final days away from the glare of the media spotlight. In September 2008, he lost his battle with cancer at his farmhouse in Connecticut with his wife Joanne Woodward by his side. Peter Kramer / Getty Images (July 29, 1938 to August 7, 2005) The audience was shocked in April 2005 when Peter Jennings, the legendary ABC broadcaster, announced in a predetermined message that he had lung cancer and would begin chemotherapy within days. Although he assured his audience that it would still be broadcast during treatment, it never happened. Jennings' video message will eventually be his last. He died just a few months later. The news that chemotherapy would be Jennings' first course of treatment was a fairly clear indication that the disease was in an advanced stage. A former smoker who resigned in the mid-80s, Jennings recovered for a short period of time after the 9/11 attacks in 2001. His decade-long habit began at the age of 13, at a time when the dangers of smoking were not clear. Fotos International / Getty Images (February 2, 1947 to June 25, 2009) In September 2006, Angels star Charlie Farrah Fawcett began her long journey with anal cancer, a rare disease that affects only about 5,000 people in the United States each year. cancer is diagnosed more often in women than in men and is associated with human papillomavirus (HPV). After completing radiation and chemotherapy, the actress was reportedly in good spirits and optimistic about her future. Just five months after her initial diagnosis, Fawcett was declared cancer-free. Unfortunately, during a routine check in May 2007, a malignant polyp was found--a heart revelation, given that only 15% of those treated for cancer experience a relapse. She died at a Santa Monica hospital with her long love, Ryan O'Neill, by her side. William Thomas Kane / Getty Images (February 22, 1932 to August 25, 2009) In 2008, Senator Ted Kennedy was taken to a hospital after the attack. He was initially thought to have suffered a stroke, but medical tests showed he had, in fact, a brain tumour. It soon became known that Kennedy was suffering from malignant gliom in his left parietal lobe. Despite reports that the tumor was unoperable, Kennedy underwent surgery at Deuk University Medical Center, home of a well-known center of brain tumors. After aggressive chemotherapy and radiotherapy, he left him vulnerable to seizures. A year later, Kennedy succumbed to his battle with cancer at his home in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. Frederick M. Brown / Getty Images (October 23, 1942) November 4, 2008) Best known for bestselling novels such as The Strain of Andromeda and Jurassic Park, Michael Crutchton's work successfully moved to the silver screen. Even after Hollywood came calling, capturing the bestseller after a bestseller for film adaptation, Crutchton remained a staunchly private person. So much so, in fact,

that the public didn't realize that the novelist was battling cancer right up until the time of his death. His death was unexpected, Criegton's brother told the press. The author was treated for lymphoma diagnosed in early 2008. Faith Anderson / Getty Images (July 1, 1934 to May 26, 2008) In 2007, National Enquirer brashly announced that the academy's award-winning Director Sidney Pollack was suffering from stomach cancer. Pollack made no official statement regarding his health. It was only after his death in May 2008 that a representative confirmed that the director had been diagnosed with cancer, the origin of which doctors were unable to determine. Mark Wilson / Getty Images (June 1, 1955 to July 12, 2008) Former Press Secretary to President George W. Bush Tony Snow was no stranger to cancer. Snow first battled colon cancer in 2005 after years of suffering from ulcerative colitis, a condition that can significantly increase the risk of developing colorectal malignant diseases. Immediately after the diagnosis, Snow underwent surgery to remove his colon followed by a six-month course of chemotherapy. Soon after, his cancer was declared in remission. Unfortunately, in 2007, while serving as White House press secretary, Snow suffered a relapse, ultimately leading to his death in 2008 at age 53. Pictorial Parade / Getty Images (October 1, 1924 to September 3, 2005) Former Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court Renquist was an unlearned public servant, something he proved after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in October 2004. During his year-long battle with the disease, he received both chemotherapy and radiation, continuing to actively serve as chief justice. Reckvist lost his battle against cancer in September 2005 at his home in Arlington, Virginia. Central Press / Getty Images (January 17, 1927 to December 25, 2008) Legendary actress and singer Eartha Kitt began her journey with colon cancer in 2006, after a visit with a doctor for a brush tunnel showed she was anemic (a symptom people with cancer often experience). Further testing showed that she actually had colon cancer. She was successfully treated, but in 2007 had a relapse that would eventually lead to her death. Keith died of the disease on Christmas Day in 2008 at the age of 81. Keith continued to work until the time of her death. She is best remembered for her festive hit Santa Baby, as well as for her role as a cat woman in the TV series Batman. Fraser Harrison / Getty Images (January 9, 1935 to September 2, 2005) Bob Denver is best remembered for his starring role in the hit TV series of the 1960s Island. His career lasted up to five decades, but for most fans he will always be remembered as a burgeoning and intolerant Gilligan. Few details have been publicly released about Denver's battle with throat cancer, a disease to which it eventually succumbed in 2005. He died surrounded by his wife and children at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina. Jerry Orbach / Getty Images (October 20, 1935 to December 28, 2004) Hollywood veteran and Law and Order star Jerry Orbach was diagnosed with prostate cancer for 10 years before dying of the disease in 2004. The star was treated at New York's Sloan Kettering Cancer Memorial Center. He died on December 28 at the age of 69. Jeff Kravitz / Getty Images (September 17, 1931 to June 6, 2005) Details about actress Anne Bancroft's battle with uterine cancer were largely kept private, but close friends reported that she had suffered from the disease for some time. The Star, who won an Oscar for Miracle Worker, died in 2005 at the age of 73, leaving behind husband Mel Brooks and son Max Thank you for your feedback! What are your concerns?
