Henry Atkinson has agreed to remain on as the handgun chairman. Most Tuesday evenings will find Henry and 4 or 5 other shooters out.
*** Note! - outdoor members in good standing can shoot indoors for a $5.00 per night range fee. Dust off those ATT’s and come on out.
ATT’s expire on your PAL / POL expiry date and will require 6 – 8 weeks lead-time to renew. It’s up to you to monitor your own expiry date and notify Henry.
GENERAL[pic]
Members that haven’t been to our club recently are in for a pleasant surprise. The trillium Foundation grant money has been put to good use. Clubhouse walls are painted, (chairs too!), a new barrier free washroom completed, steel cladding and insulation installed, doors and walls moved, the pond cleaned out & structure added, and a great deal more.
Much of this work was completed by a dedicated group of our members. I’m told the “master painter” was Bob Opdecam, Grant Harvey the electrician, and I’m not too sure who led the group, but Bill Toronyi, Emil Hartmann, Bill Partington Sr, and Ray Causyn are all owed a large thank you – a very professional job Gentlemen!
My apologies if I have left anyone off the list. This has been a very time-consuming renovation project for the executive and without the help of a number of volunteers we would have never been able to complete so much. The final report will be submitted shortly. Remember there are always things to be done around the club. We all pay the same dues and enjoy the facility we have. Don’t burn out the members who do contribute their time, make sure you help out in any way that you can.
There are now 2 first aid kits in the clubhouse. One is available in the kitchen area, the other will be located in the indoor range section. Take note of the exact location next time your in the building.
HUNTER APPRENTICESHIP SAFETY COURSE
Our very own club will be hosting a Hunter Apprenticeship Safety Course at the Class A1/A2 level. This is a 12.5 hour course that would allow the individual to hunt with a mentor. They would write the Ontario Hunter Education Course exam but NOT the Canadian Firearms Safety Course exam. It will give limited exposure to firearms handling. The aim is to target 12-15 year olds with limited hunting experience and a special welcome to include girls. We will run the course in 4-5 sessions rather than a single session. We hope to keep them interested and not overwhelmed or bored with an all day session. The course will be run in late May-early June. The cost is $100 and will be instructed by our own club member Jim Docheff. If interested please contact Mark Hopper at 519-866-5440.
