Most other studies of readmitted infants found an incidence of rebound to significant levels (i.e. requiring repeat phototherapy) around 1% or less. Therefore, in these patients who are readmitted to the hospital for routine neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, it is unnecessary to keep them in the hospital longer to recheck a rebound level. ................
