Certain parts of the Article page can be pulled into other pages of the site, either directly or through a Callout. See the Article Page Content Sharing Reference document for detailed information on what fields from the Article page are pulled into other site pages and Callouts.Content Entry FieldsTitleThis field holds the title for the page. The Title appears in the browser tab when the page is viewed on the public website.It will also display when the page in search results (Google, Bing) and in the results of the search used on the Engineering School website.It also is used to identify the page within the CMS.Show Share LinksThis checkbox controls if the Share This Story callout appears in the left column of the page. The callout will appear if the checkbox is checked. It will not appear if the checkbox is not checked.How the Share This Story callout appears on the websiteAuthorThis field holds the article’s author.EmailThis field holds the author’s email address.Masthead Background (1475x500 pixels)This field holds the background image displayed behind the article content.Alternate text field – This field holds the alternative text for the image. Make sure to enter text into this field that provides a description of what’s pictured in the image.IMPORTANT: If an image is not, this article may fail to display in the Masthead area of other pages to which it is assigned.Embedded OptionsSVG IconThis field holds the icon options. A single icon can be selected.Displayed HeadlineThis filed is used for an alternate headline to display in trending news/masthead/etc. sections of other pages to which it is assigned if the primary headline (i.e. the content of the Title field) is too long for proper display in that section.Displayed SummaryHolds a summary or abstract of the article. This is displayed in areas of content pages into which the Article page is pulled, such as the Masthead area and the Latest News of Department Landing pages.Thumbnail (300x250 pixels)The thumbnail image is displayed with the article content when it is pulled into other pages of the website. SubheadlineThis field holds the subheadline for the article. This text is displayed only on the Article page itself.BodyThis field holds the main content of the article.Article CalloutsThis field is used to select the Media content items to pull into the article page. Add Another ItemThis button adds another callout to the group. The new callout is placed at the bottom of the group.Changing the order of the calloutsThe ordering of the callouts is changed by dragging them to new positions in the list. To drag a callout to a new position, left-click and hold the four-pointed arrow icon to the left of the callout’s content fields and then drag up or down. When the callout is in the desired position, release the mouse button and the callout will “pop” into the new position.The top-to-bottom ordering in the list translates directly to the top-to-bottom ordering of the callouts on the page.Removing a calloutTo remove a callout, clear it completely out of the text field. If the text field is empty, the callout won’t be displayed on the public website page.Left Column CalloutsThis field is used to select the callouts to pull into the left column of the article page.IMPORTANT: Only the Callout – Contact Information and Callout – News Feed callout types can be pulled into the left column Add Another Item ButtonThis button adds another callout to the group. Each Link has three fields.1. TitleThis is the text for the link.Maximum length: 128 characters, including spaces between words and punctuation2. URLMake sure to use the full website address (make sure that it begins with http:// or https://).Correct format: format: Maximum length: 2048 characters3. Open URL in a New WindowWhen checked, this opens the More Stories link (displayed in a “box” below the Masthead Stories) in a new browser window or tab (depending upon how the user’s browser is configured and the device on which the visitor is viewing the site).Add Another ItemThis button adds another link to the group. The new link is placed at the bottom of the group.How to remove a linkTo remove a Related Link, clear all of the fields for the link completely. If all fields are empty, the link won’t be displayed on the public website page.Changing the order of the Related LinksTo change the ordering, left-click on the icon to the left of the position text field and hold. Then drag the position to the desired place in the list.The top-to-bottom order of the text fields translates directly to the left-to-right order on the public website.TagsThe general tags are used to provide general tagging, or categorization for the Article.These tags are used in various places throughout the site to filter news searches and lists, such as in the News Index section of the website.Select all Tags that apply.DepartmentsThe Departments tags are used to tag, or categorize, the Article. These tags are used in various places throughout the site to filter news searches and lists, such as in the News Index section of the website.Select all Departments that apply.Research StrengthsThe Research Strengths tags are used to tag, or categorize, the Article in the News Index section of the website (articles can be searched for/filtered by these tags).Make selections at the 3rd level of the tree. The CMS will auto-select the corresponding 2nd and 1st levels based on your selections.Promoting an Article to the website home page (Administrator Access Only)When promoted to the website home page, Articles appear in the Trending News section.Content requirements for Articles promoted to the website home page Any article promoted to the home page must have the content in the following fields:Displayed HeadlineThumbnailThumbnail Alternate textAt least one Related LinkEven if your user account does not have the ability to promote an Article page to the School of Engineering website home page, you should still populate these fields with content so that the article is eligible for display on the website home page.Content requirements for Articles promoted to a department landing page Any article promoted to a department landing page (i.e. the main page of a department, such as Computer Science) must have the content in the following fields:Displayed HeadlineThumbnail (required for display – the article will NOT display if the Thumbnail image is absent)Thumbnail Alternate textAlthough not a requirement, it is recommended that the article include at least one Related Link.Even if your user account does not have the ability to promote an Article page to a department landing page, you should still populate these fields with content so that the article is eligible for display on the department landing page.How to promote an Article to the website home page (Administrator Access Only)Promoting Article pages to the School of Engineering website home page is available only to Site Administrator users.Step 1. Open the Publishing Options area at bottom of the Article page editing screen.Step 2. Check the Promoted to front page checkbox. In addition, make sure the Published checkbox is also checked. IMPORTANT: An Article page must be published to be displayed in the Trending News area of the home page. If the Article page is not published, it will not display, even if the Promoted to front page checkbox is checked.Step 3. Click the Save button to save the changes. Promoting an Article to the front page is considered to be a content change to the page, and as such it needs to be saved in the same manner as other content changes to the page. ................
