Have a Record-Breaking BIO 2019

When I was young, I remember paging through the Guinness Book of World Records and making some jaw-dropping discoveries: The world's tallest person was an Illinois man who grew an inch shy of 9 feet tall and wore size 37 shoes, while the oldest human in recorded existence was a French woman who lived to 122 and credited a diet rich in olive oil. I never dreamed I would lead an organization that would one day make history ? and the famous book. Yet that's exactly what happened last summer as BIO celebrated our 25th anniversary by hosting 46,916 business partnering meetings at our International Convention in Boston, setting a Guinness World Record in the process. This year, in Philadelphia, BIO projects we will one-up our own world record by hosting upwards of 50,000 One-on-One PartneringTM meetings. Some 7,000 innovators, investors, distributors and assorted stakeholders from across the biotechnology value chain will participate representing nearly 4,000 biopharma companies worldwide. BIO's partnering system helps you identify prospective partners, schedule meetings and take the countless small steps necessary to deliver big breakthroughs. We will also have fascinating fireside chats with JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon and Siddartha Mukherjee ? the Indian-American biologist, oncologist and Pulitzer Price-winning author of The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer, which Time Magazine named one of the best 100 nonfiction books of the past century. For anyone who could use a dose of inspiration about the boundless potential we have to cure disease ? even in these challenging political times ? these firesides should not be missed. As a Philadelphia native son, it's also my honored duty to inform you that Philadelphia has the best museums, the best sporting events, the best indoor food market (Reading Terminal), the best independent music scene, the best people and indisputably the best cheesesteak in the world. And as always, BIO plans to throw the industry's best parties in the City of Brotherly Love. So welcome to Philadelphia and have a wonderful BIO 2019. We are excited to provide you with opportunities to advance your business goals, make new friends and colleagues, enrich your mind, and perhaps even play a role in the successful commercialization of a record-breaking cure worthy of the Guinness book.

As one of the regional co-chairs, I am delighted to welcome you to the BIO International Convention 2019 in Philadelphia. Our region has a wealth of pharmaceutical and biotech companies and some of the country's best hospitals and academic institutions. Our scientists and engineers are working on cutting edge technologies to advance innovative healthcare, agricultural, industrial and environmental biotech products. I represent Delaware, the nation's first state and the place where the greatest number of national and international companies come to incorporate. We are nationally known for our legal strength in intellectual property, for housing the headquarters of the National Institute for Innovation in Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing and for our Gene Editing Institute. We have a very strong business focus on providing tools ? instruments, consumables, cell lines, CMO and CRO capabilities. We believe that Delaware companies make life science discoveries possible. Delaware was recently ranked #7 in the State Science and Technology Index by the Milken Institute and holds the distinction of being third in the nation for Ph.D.'s per capita and #1 in the country for patents held per capita. Along with our sister states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, we make up the fifth largest biotech sector in the country. Please drop by the tri-state pavilions during your visit to learn more about what we have to offer. I wish you great success with your business interactions here at BIO 2019. Sincerely,

Helen Stimson President & CEO Delaware BioScience Association

Welcome to BIO 2019! We are excited that you are here!

The annual BIO Convention has long been an important showcase for New Jersey and its companies, allowing us the opportunity to meet businesses and entrepreneurs who may be interested in establishing a footprint in the Garden State. As BIO's official New Jersey affiliate and a host state for this year's BIO International Convention, BioNJ ? along with Choose New Jersey and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) ? is proud to host New Jersey's delegation, representing our ecosystem in the New Jersey Pavilion, Booth #1501. Led by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, our delegation is comprised of the State's biopharma leaders, research universities, trade associations and business service professionals representing discovery, development, delivery and data and demonstrating the breadth and diversity of New Jersey's vibrant life sciences community. With 3,300 life science establishments, including 12 of the world's largest biopharmaceutical companies, having a headquarters or a presence in the Garden State and access to a highly-talented workforce; a robust and growing biopharmaceutical manufacturing sector and leading expertise in cell and gene therapy ? with the first two approved CAR-T therapies coming from the Garden State, it's easy to see why emerging biotechnology companies are choosing to call New Jersey home. We invite BIO show-goers to visit our Pavilion to learn about the strength of the industry in New Jersey, from discovery and R&D through commercialization. New Jersey's development and commercialization talent is second to none. In fact, 40% of all new novel FDA drug approvals came from companies with a footprint in New Jersey in the last two years, more than anyplace else in the world. Please visit the New Jersey delegation in Booth #1501 and join us for a Regional Reception, hosted in concert with Delaware BIO and Life Sciences Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, June 4, at 5:30 p.m. in the New Jersey Pavilion.

Welcome to the BIO International Convention in Philadelphia

Life Sciences Pennsylvania (LSPA) is proud to welcome the 26th annual BIO International Convention and its attendees from around the world to Philadelphia for unparalleled partnering, education sessions, networking, and to see the scientific and business prowess Pennsylvania has to offer. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is now home to more than 2,800 life sciences establishments, more than at any other time in our history. The region's vast array of leading universities and research institutions foster an environment that is both innovative and collaborative; we are sure BIO attendees will see this first-hand while attending the Convention this week. This year marks LSPA's 30th anniversary of working to ensure Pennsylvania has a business and public policy climate that unites and incentivizes all facets of the state's diverse life sciences economy. Together, we unify Pennsylvania's innovators to make Pennsylvania a global life sciences leader. We represent patient advocacy groups, biotechnology, medical device, diagnostic, pharmaceutical, research, and investment entities, along with myriad service providers who help our life sciences companies thrive. The biotechnology sector of LSPA's membership is the largest and accounts for 16% of our member companies. We work to continue the progression of our strategic priorities to ensure a supportive climate in Pennsylvania for company formation and retention in the Commonwealth; facilitate partnerships to advance company formation, innovation, job creation and success in the industry; and we provide valued services for Association members. This is an exciting opportunity to recognize Pennsylvania's community and showcase our member companies to the world. Thank you to the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development and to all our Pavilion partners for participating and contributing to our Pavilion this year. We hope to connect with you at the Pennsylvania Pavilion in booth #1301.
