Classification of Microorganisms in BRCs Based on the Purposes of Use

1. Microbial strains specified for standardized tests such as ISO, Pharmacopoeia, etc.

1. CC should have these strains to maintain their availability in the country.

2. The strains are assigned by laws and regulations of each country. 3. The strains for international standard should be treated as

exception only for this purpose.

2. Taxonomic type strains and reference strains

1. Type strains of the prokaryotes shall be universally available. 2. IJSEM is requiring certificate for their availability without

restriction.

3. Microorganisms for screening and research purposes
