Dear Parent(s) of a Graduating Wesley Chapel High School Senior:

In an effort to keep you informed and up to date on upcoming Graduating Senior Activities, I have provided a list of events that will occur in the next few months. In addition you will find some preliminary information regarding Graduation.

Important Dates to Remember

Friday, April 20 *Grad Bash @ Universal Studios in Orlando – Leave - 4:30 PM

Thursday, May 3 Senior Project Presentations – (7:30 AM – 7:00 PM)

Saturday, May 5 CATSPY Awards – Athletic Awards Ceremony – 6 PM PAC

May 7 – 18 AP Exams

Thursday, May 10 Night of Excellence (Academic Awards Ceremony) – 6:30 PM @ PAC

Night of Excellence – Academic Awards Ceremony

• Thursday, May 10 at 6:30 PM in the PAC

• You must come dressed in appropriate attire. See Dress Code Below. Failure to do so may keep you from participating in the ceremony. These are the same ground rules for your official graduation at the Tampa Bay Convention Center.

Both: Absolutely NO JEANS, SNEAKERS, FLIP-FLOPS, visible “bulky” jewelry, scarves, ribbons, bandanas, etc. are permitted. Leave purses, cameras, and personal items with a parent or friend in the audience; they may NOT be taken in during the processional.

NOTE: The mortarboard {graduation cap} is to be worn flat with the tassel over the right eye. Once the Seniors are declared graduates, the tassel is moved to the left side in unison with the class. Mortarboards are to look like they did when received from the company. Nothing extra may be added to them. Failure to comply with the dress policy may result in the student not being permitted to participate in the ceremony. Please carry your cap and gown into the Tampa Bay Convention Center. Security will do a visual search of all the graduates.

BEHAVIOR: Graduation is a momentous occasion not only for the seniors, but also for their parents, families, and friends. For that reason, the ceremony is to be held with dignity and courtesy to others. All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a manner appropriate for the occasion, including the manner in which you walk across the stage. Any inappropriate behavior will result in your diploma being pulled. Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not receive his/her diploma and/or will be turned over to the appropriate law enforcement officials.

Miscellaneous Information:

• Improper noises and distractions will not be permitted.

• NO noisemakers, bullhorns, whistles, firecrackers, etc. will be permitted.

• NO balloons are permitted in the Tampa Convention Center

• NO flowers are allowed to be brought into the Tampa Convention Center

• Please refrain from bring IPODS, MP3 players, etc to graduation

• Cell Phone – Please turn off cell phones during the graduation ceremony.

• Family and Friends should remain seated throughout the ceremony as a courtesy to other graduates and their families and friends.

• Parking – Please refer to the attached Parking Map for fees and parking options.

• Photographs – Seniors will be photographed individually as they receive their diploma and congratulations from the principal. The photographer will notify seniors when the pictures are ready; purchases are optional.

• No one other than graduates are permitted on the stage at the Tampa Convention Center!

Graduation Rehearsal – (MANDATORY)

• Tuesday, May 29th and Wednesday, May 30th

• 8:00 AM - Noon

• Where: WCHS Gym

• Attendance is imperative for participation in Graduation

• We will review the order of the ceremony and teachers will read student’s names

• Friday, June 1st @ 8:00 PM at the Tampa Bay Convention Center

• Graduates must arrive at the Tampa Bay Convention Center at 6:45 PM to begin lining up.

Diplomas

• Diplomas will be distributed alphabetically immediately upon processing out of the Tampa Bay Convention Center.

• Students should report back to the area where they first checked in prior to graduating.

• Any student not meeting the behavioral requirements or whose financial record is not cleared will not receive a diploma. {Records may be cleared in advance with the bookkeeper, Mrs. McKinney}

Graduation DVD

• Graduation will be recorded and available to you on DVD for only $15.

• $15 must be paid in cash

• If you are interested in ordering a DVD please complete the attached order form by the designated deadline.

• Additional order forms will be available on the Wesley Chapel website located under the Senior page.
