Ada Apa Dengan Cinta
❖ The Story of Love and Cinta
Andy Williams said,” Love is a many splendored thing.” But according to Nazareth,” Love hurts!” So, what is love, actually? Many teenagers have tried in vein to find the answer to that question. It might be what inspired Mira Lesmana and Riri Riza to produce the movie Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?, a movie about love and people who are in love.
❖ The Lovely Cinta
Cinta (Dian Sastrowardoyo) is a beautiful, smart, and confident seventeen-year-old girl. Born in a loving family, surrounded by understanding and supporting friends, Cinta seem to have everything in the world. She has four best friend: Milly (Sissy Priscilia), Karmen (Adinia Wirastuti), Alya (Ladya Heryl) and Maura (Titi Kamal) who always protect her and are there for her. She’s also the object of Bone’s affection, but most eligible boyfriend at school.
But things are starting to change when Cinta meets Rangga (Nicholas Saputra), a cold and arrogant boy whose presence is never taken into account at school. The Unpredictable character of Rangga disturbed Cinta. It creates a new and unfamiliar sensation which leads Cinta into a new and strange world. The next thing she knows, she has fallen in love with someone who has very different character and comes from a very different world.
Bit by bit, Cinta starts to change. She becomes a new person, a stranger to her friends and even for herself. She doesn’t understand what was happened, let alone her friends.
What’s wrong with Cinta? She start to see things and act differently. Should someone go through changes in seeing and appraising her world? But is she the one who changes, or is it the people around her?
❖ The Loving Crew
This movie is directed by Rudi Soedjarwo ( the director of Bintang Jatuh and Tragedy). The script is written by Jujur Pranoto, the script writer of Petualangn Sherina, although the idea of the story comes from Mira Lesmana, Prima Rusdi and Riri Reza.
Most of the people involved in this movie, such as Rudi Sujarwo, the Art Director Adrianto Sinaga, the Editor Dewi ST. Alibasah, the Director of Photography Roy Lolang, and the Stars are new comers to the 35mm-celluloid-film world, except for Dian Sastrowardoyo. The songs and music are composed by Melly Goeslaw and Anto Hoed, also new faces in the movie world. One thing that all of them have in common: they are very excited and thrilled to take part in this awesome flick.
❖ The Lovable Story
Listen to what Riri Rizal says about this movie, “The ending is wonderful. I’ve seen it several times, but it can still move and touch me and make me laugh.” Rudi Sujarwo is also confident that the movie will be well-accepted by movie goers :“the movie is very complete. It has a love story, comedy, and action. Above all, the ending is really surprising. “this movie is about falling in love for the first time, something that most of us have experienced. Through this movie, we can recall that experience and also, hopefully, viewers will fall love with Indonesian movies, ”says Mira Lesmana. Well, that’s what we also expect, right? So make sure you watch this flick and capture the moment.

| |here, and parts of it do seem long, as if we were reading all about Harry “just hanging out” instead of having |

The Last Samurai
Set in 19th century Japan, The Last Samurai focuses on an embittered U.S. Civil War veteran, Nathan Algren (Tom Cruise), who has dragged his world-weary, alcoholic body across the Pacific to help train the Japanese Army to overcome rebellious samurai warriors, who are fighting against the introduction of Western ways that are sweeping aside Japanese tradition. Algren has no commitment to the cause; he’s there purely for the money, and because he has nothing else to do other than drink to obscure terrible flashbacks to wartime atrocities, memories of post-Civil War battles against American Indians.
The Last Samurai is a war movie, no doubt about it. There are several large battle scenes that are stirring and brutal. Yet the heart of the film is less about war than it is about recovering from the damage of war, as Algren – without even knowing he’s doing it – seeks redemption and a return to honour in his own life. The film parallels the fate of the samurai to that of American Indians, taking a slightly subversive slap at American capitalist imperialism (which remains that nation’s primary motivation in dealing with the rest of the world).
Visually attractive, this film is a huge success because its midsection – set in the samurai village – is intelligent, gentle and patiently treated. Algren cleans up his act and learns the way of the samurai gradually, there’s no magical transformation here, so it’s utterly believable that a burnt-out American drunk could be transformed into an honourable samurai warrior.
Great to look at and respectful of its subject matter, The Last Samurai is an epic with excitement, brains and heart.

On April, 3, 2005, Senior High School from Sidney Distance High School history class had an exursion to the police and Justice Museum near Circular Quay.
First we went into the small courtroom. This had been used from the late 1800’s to 1980’s. There was a place where the jury sat and high bench for the judge.
When we took part in a mock trial, based around the murder of Charles Wright on 1 October, 1993. We acted as witness, the defendant, the judge, the court reporter, the defence and the prececusion. We found the defendant not guilty.
After the trial, we were taken around the museum. We saw vest helmets and weapons used by outlaws. We learnt about the Graime and Thorn case.
We enjoyed our visit to the Police and Museum and learnt about the evidence and how crime are solved.

I absolutely love Titanic, and all of the movie will always hold a special place in my heart. Brock Lovett ( Bill Paxton ) is a somewhat ruthless treasure hunter searching for profit under the sea in the debris of the wrecked liner Titanic. In particular, he is searching for a necklace featuring an historic blue diamond and that is rumored to have sunk with the ship. He believes he is on the right track when his crew retrieves a safe in which he
finds a sketch of a beautiful woman wearing the diamond.
The drawing is shown on a TV news program, and an old lady called Rose Dawson Calvert ( Gloria Stewart ) comes forward claiming that she is the woman in the drawing. When questioned by the treasure hunters, she tells them her story.
When she joined the Titanic for her maiden voyage Rose DeWitt Bukater ( Kate Winslet ), as she was known then, was 17 years old. Her mother ( Frances Fisher ) had a good breeding but little money, so she was taking Rose to America to marry rich Cal Hockley ( Billy Zane ) – a match that Rose would rather have avoided.
Attempting to commit suicide, she was saved by Jack Dawson ( Leonardo DiCaprio), a raffish and charming third-class passenger. Jack and Rose started to spend time together, ultimately falling love, in spite of the disapproval of both her mother and Hockley. Hockley would have done anything to prevent Jack seeing Rose, and falsely accused him of theft. However, the historic events that followed were to change everything.
Cameron’s “ Titanic” is justly recognized as something of a masterpiece. The film cost a phenomenal amount to make, and most of that spending is visible on screen. Everything about it looks sumptuous and the effects that go into the sinking of the ship are grippingly realistic.
The romantic thread is appealing enough, but its greater purpose is to make the effect of the tragedy more personal. Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio make a fine job of playing the young couple, although the romance is occasionally rather overdone and DiCaprio does struggle at times to give his character as written any real depth.
Although the film is a personal romance set amidst a greater disaster story, it is also the story of Rose’s life and the effect her experiences have had on her and it largely succeeds on all counts.

A Fire
The guests in the Apollo Hotel had an unpleasant experienced yesterday when a fire broke out on top floor of the building.
The fire had started in the early morning while most of the guests were still sound asleep. One guest who happened to be awake already thought he smelt smoke. He went out into the corridor and informed a passing bell-boy. Then, they saw smoke coming around the corner at the other end of the corridor. The two of them immediately raised the alarm. While the hotel guests ran along the corridor, banging on every door and shouting “ Fire ! Fire !”, the bell-boy alerted the rest of the staff and telephoned the fire brigade.
The other guests, rudely awakened by the hanging and the shouts, rushed out of their rooms. Most of the guests were still in their pyjamas. The guests were led to safety outside the hotel by the hotel staff.
In no time, the fire engines arrived. A team of firemen hurried to an upper floor of the hotel to investigate the source of the fire, while the rest of them remained on the ground floor to prepare to fight the flames. By now the whole building was filled with thick, black smoke. The firemen who had gone upstairs soon found that the fire had started in the storeroom on the top floor. Luckily, the fire itself was not very big. After an hour battle, the firemen had the fire itself under control.
A spokesman at the hotel later estimated that the damage caused by the fire would total around fifty million rupiah. However, he added that it was fortunate that none of the hotel guests had been hurt in the fire.
The police are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Many people imagine the sea-horse to be a real horse in the sea. This is not true at all. The sea-horse is so called because it is a tiny creature with a horse-like head which lives in the sea.
Sea-horse are found mostly in warm seas. They have a long. Flexible tail which is used for wrapping around weeds for support. They swim in an upright position, their movements being helped by a rapidly oscillating fin on their back. The male sea-horse has a pouch in its abdomen. The female sea-horse lays her eggs in this pouch.
The most remarkable thing about the sea-horse is that part of the process of reproduction is taken over by the male creature. Once the female sea-horse has laid her eggs in the male creature’s pouch, she leaves. The hatching of the eggs is done by the male fish.
Mating begins with the male and the female sea-horses doing a courtship dance. The male and the female creatures swim around each other in the circles. At the end of the dance, the male appears to bow to its partner; but in actually, the male is bending to pump water from his pouch. Next, the female fish lay eggs into the male’s pouch. About two hundred eggs are laid. The pouch then closes up. The female sea-horse now swim away, leaving the male sea-horse to do hatching.
The eggs are hatched about a month later. The young sea-horses are ejected from the male creature’s pouch by means of muscular contractions.
The sea-horse feeds on tiny fish and creatures by sucking them into its mouth.

In the summer of 1994 a team of Spanish television reporters shot and interview seven Cubans and their families during the days before their dangerous adventures of taking to the sea in an attempt to reach the United States coast, fleeing the economic difficulties that destroy the country.

King Lir lived long ago in Ireland. He had four children, two boys and two girls, whom he loved dearly. However, their stepmother was jealous. She wove a spell that turned the children into swans.
Lir was heartbroken. His beard and hair turned white. With grief he searched for his children. One day he saw four swans. He did not realize who they were, although they recognized him as their father.

Earthquake happens on land under the sea. Ninety percent occurs in the ring of fire which circles the Pacific Ocean. Many others occurs along the Alpine Belt, which starts in Spain in the west, and goes through to the Himalaya as far as South-East Asia.
The magnitude or power of an earthquake is measured on Richter scale. Starting at 1, each number on the scale is ten times more powerful than the number below. The worst earthquake so fare recorded was 8.9 off the coast of Columbia in 1906.
There are about a million earthquakes every year- any vibration in the earth is an earthquake. A large earthquake occurs about every two weeks-mostly under the sea, where it does little harm.
The shock of an earthquake can sometimes be felt hundreds of kilometers way. Water splashed in swimming pools in Houston, USA after the earthquake in Mexico 1985- 1,609 km away. China has the worst record for earthquake deaths. In 1556, an earthquake killed 830,000 people in Shanxi province. HOW TO DIET
The purpose of dieting is to lose weight, so that you will become more attractive. You might overeat because the food is everywhere around you. A good way to reduce your calorie consumption is to go to places where there is no food, in the train, for example.
There are more different diets nowadays. There are the F-Plan, C-Plan, etc. The most effective diet is the X-Plan diet. One useful tip is to keep a list of everything you eat. This is really good for big eaters because compiling the list can cut down the time you spend eating. Finally when you’ve finished the list, eat it. That’s your meal for the day. Crash diets are where you can loose a stone in a week. This is what we know as amputation.

The house is situated at the bottom of the Chess valley next to the River Chess. It’s about 20 miles from London and just outside the village of Chorleywood. It’s really splendid period property. The oldest parts are Elizabethans, but there were some additions in the 1820s.
It seems typically English to me. There are long corridors and huge oak-panelled rooms, and you can imagine all sorts of scenes from history taking place here.

The house is in 2.5 acres of land, and there is a green house, a shed, a swimming pool and a tennis court. It’s beautiful place to be at any time of the year. In winter it’s warm and cozy and in summer there’s so much to do outside.

We are having a wonderful holiday. Yesterday was great as we went to Movie World.
When we got up in the morning, it looked rain. After a while the clouds disappeared and it became a sunny day. We the decided to go to Movie World.
The first ride I went on Superman Return. Next I saw “ The Flag of Our Fathers”. At this point I felt hungry and so I had a milkshake and hot dog. Afterwards I had a rest. Meanwhile, Mum and Kelly had been in the queue for the “ Harry Potter the Order of Phoenix” and finally got a go.
It rained about lunchtime but soon after it was fine again. We then went on all the other rode and lastly did the studio tour.

Sea-lions are sea mammals and are warm blooded. They breathe air with their lungs. The scientific name for the family they belong to is Neophoca Cinerea ( nee –o – fo – ka Sin – er –ee- a ).
Australian sea-lions are about 250 cms long. Adult males ( called bulls) grow about 3 metres and are the largest Australian mammal ( they no longer breed in Australia). The female sea-lions are always smaller than the bulls in length and in weight. Australian sea-lions have a body shaped for slipping smoothly through the water and a thick layer of fat underneath their skin. They have large nostril, long, sharp teeth and two pairs of short legs with the five-toed feet flattened like paddles or fins.
When Australian sea-lion pups are born, they feed on their mother’s milk. Sea-lions have to come on dry land when they mate and have babies. Bull sea-lions are big and dark and they mate with lots of females. If a baby pup goes near bull, the bull will kill it. When the pup is trying to look for its mother, no-other sea-lion will feed it. If it can’t find its mother, it will starve.
Australian sea-lions are found along the South-western shores of west Australia and most of the South Australian coastline and off shores island. Sea-lion eat fish and squid.

Frogs are delightful creatures. Our country is home to more than 220 named species, and they can be found in almost any Australian landscape.

Harry Potter, the Prisoner of the Azkaban
For most children, summer vacation is something to look forward to. But not for the 13 years old boy, Harry Potter. He was forced to spend his summers with his Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon and Dudley Dursley who detested him. The Ill treatment and the unpleasant insulting words forced Harry “accidentally” to cast spells in the non-magic world. It caused Aunt Marge ( sister of Aunt Petunia) to inflate
like a monstrous balloon. This actually violated
against the rules of wizards which strictly forbade
students to cast spells in the world of“Muggles” (non-
magic-world). Realizing for what he had done, Harry
ran away from Dursley’s home into the darkness of
the night with his heavy trunk and his owl Hedwig.
Suddenly Harry was picked up by a triple-decker, violently purple-bus to spend the rest weeks of his summer in a friendly inn called the Leaky Cauldron. In the Leaky Cauldron, Harry read a poster announcing that Sirius Black –an enigmatic convict from the witch-craft and wizardly prison of Azkaban was on the loose.
Sirius Black had escaped from Azkaban prison and was searching for Harry. Black was believed to be responsible for leading lord Voldermort to Harry’s parents and ultimately to their murder.
Harry Potter felt that his life was in danger. He returned to Hogwart and the three pals were back for the third term at Hogwadt. The school was buzzing with the news of the escaping prisoner of Azkaban. The ominous Azkaban guards-the Dementors- were posted at the school to protect the students from Black, but they seemed more interested in probing Harry’s mind than searching for the prisoner.
A confrontation between Harry and Black was inevitably, but when they finally did, the young wizard was shocked by the revelations about his parents that caused him to question exactly who his friends really were. He never realized that Sirius Black escaped from Azkaban to protect him from Lord Voldermort’s evil plan and that Ron, one of his best friend betrayed him. He was actually a servant of Lord Valdermort. Unfortunately, he ran away after hid secret was revealed.
I like this film because it kept me wanting to watch next actions, and next actions and so on. The film is definitely a worth seeing film ! I recommended this film all ages.

They would not be able to make a trip to America as they had planned.
The father, filled with disappointment and anger stomped the dock to watch the ship leave without the Clark family. The father set shed tears of disappointment and cursed both his son and God for their misfortune.
Five days later the tragic news spread throughout Scotland – the mighty Titanic had sunk. The unsinkable ship had sunk, taking hundreds of lives with it. The Clark family should have been on that ship, but because the son had bitten by a dog, they were left behind in Scotland.

Malaria is an infectious disease by a one-celled parasite known as Plasmodium. The parasite is transmitted to human by the bite of female Anopheles mosquitoes. The plasmodium parasite spends its life cycle partly in human and partly in mosquitoes.
Mosquito infected with the malaria parasite bites human, passing cells called sporozoits into the human’s bloodstream. Sporozoites travel to the liver. We often hear about the solar car, solar heating or solar batteries. But will solar energy ever be a major source of energy for industrial societies ? The solar energy is cheaper that any other fossil fuel because we can get the abundant source from the sun.

MAN DIES OF SUSPECTED BIRD FLU
Indonesia. A 56-years old man, has died in hospital of suspected bird flu, which claimed at least three lives in the country, an official said on Saturday.

Not long afterwards, a son was born. The baby’s birth gave much happiness to the young mother.
However, one day, while this young mother was bathing, her evil mother-in-law threw the baby into the river. Knowing that her baby had disappeared, the young mother was very sad. She could neither eat nor sleep. She became very ill.
Two years passed and Sidapaksa returned from his journey. He succeeded in doing his duty. Just as he was about to enter his house, her mother told him that his wife had thrown their baby into the river.
Sidapaksa believed his mother’s story. He was too angry to use his common sense. He drew his creese and approached his wife who was lying weak on her bed.
“ Ach, wicked woman. Tell me why you threw our new-born child into the river. Tell me !” he said in a rough and angry voice.
“ Oh, my dearest husband, I am innocent. I love you and our new baby. I didn’t kill our child. If you don’t believe me, carry me to the river. I will prove you that I didn’t do it.”
Sidapaksa took her wife to the edge of the river. Suddently, his wife leaped up and threw herself into the river.
“Ohh my God ! How will I know who killed my child ?” moaned Sidapaksa.
Then he looked down at the water. Suddenly, two pure while flower-buds appeared, one large and the other was taller. A sweet fragrance came from them.
“ Sidapaksa, look here ! Beside me is our child. He himself will tell you who drowned him.” The taller one spoke.
“ Father, my mother is innocent. Grandmother threw me into the river. Now I’m happy because my beloved mother has come with me,” the smaller one spoke. Then, the two flowers vanished into the river. They left their fragrance behind.

For this reason, your government supports health education that encourages a balanced healthy diet. Australians are encouraged to get the bulk of their nutrients from fresh fruits, vegetables, and wholegrain cereals, a lesser amount of foods high in fat, salt and sugar.
TV advertising to children presents a completely different message. Nearly 80% of food advertising pushes fatty snacks or sweets – the very foods that should be eaten least. To make matter worse, these ads take up much of the advertising time. This must be stopped.
TV advertising is powerful and influential. Parents, however strong-willed, find it hard to resist pressures created by this advertising. Children are least able to understand the tricks of the advertising industry.
For the hours when children are the main audience, TV advertising of food must be made to reinforce, not undermine, the message about a balanced diet. We appeal to you, as Prime Minister, to take the lead in calling together the advertiser, TV networks, consumers and public health bodies to decide how this is to be done.

Love the new edition. They style
fits movie perfectly the kids acted much better in this one. The biggest problem that I had was that there were a lot of things the movie didn’t explain, such as “ Monny, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs.” I think that it may have been hard for those who hadn’t read the book to understand. Harry’s eyes aren’t green ( which is mentioned at least once in each book) but that’s a minor think. All in all, I loved the new direction and the movie itself. I can’t wait until the next one comes out.
A bit disappointment when I first read the book the entire book seem more like fan fiction than the real thing the whole way through. The plot wasn’t quite as exciting as it could have been ,either. But after seeing the film, change my mind. The plot runs smooth and the actors play excellently, especially Ron. He can play in such a role that we almost deceived by his innocent appearance.

Jakarta (JP). The number of people injured in the weekend earthquake in the Central Sulawesi capital of Palu reached 26. The earthquake, measuring 5,8 in the opened Richter Scale, also damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings. So fare no deaths have been reported.
“ Only 3 of the 26 injured are still being treated at a government clinic. In the Sausu Trans village, the rest have returned home,” Mohammad Haerollah, an official of the Central Sulawesi Office of the Ministry of Social Services, told the Jakarta Post yesterday.
Officials at the meteorology and geo-physics office in Palu said earlier that the epicenter was in the Gulf of Tomini, 32 kilometres east of Palu, at a depth of 32 kilometres. According to the controversial sunspot theory, great storms on the surface of the sun hurl streams of solar particles into the atmosphere, causing a shift in the weather on earth.
A typical sunspot consists of a dark central umbra surrounded by a lighter penumbra of light and dark threads extending out from the center like the spokes of a wheel. Actually the sunspots are cooler than the rest of the photosphere, which may account for their color. Typically, the temperature in a sunspot umbra is about 4000 K, whereas the temperature in a penumbra registers 5500 K, and the granules outside the spot are 6000 K.
Sunspots range in size from tiny granules to complex structures with areas stretching for billions of square miles. About 5 percent of the spots are large enough so that they can be seen without instruments; consequently, observations of sunspots have been recorded for several thousand years.
Sunspots have been observed in arrangements of one to more than one hundred spots, but
they tend to occur in pairs. There is also a marked tendency for the two spots of a pair to have opposite magnetic polarities. Furthermore, the strength of the magnetic field associated with any given sunspot is closely related to the spot's size.

Yumi Tamura has included a very short and very cute extra story at the end. There is a little bird that follows Sarasa around (providing a bit of comic relief) named Shinbashi. In this extra, Shinbashi goes home only to be babied. It remains a secret that he has grown up and has faced dangers with Sarasa that his siblings can't even imagine. The reunion is short-lived as Shinbashi rushes back to nap with Sarasa. This light story is a great way to conclude this volume, and it is only a couple of pages so it doesn't detract from the main story. I highly recommend Basara to anyone looking for an excellent shojo read.

On the one hand I feel a bit out of the loop jumping from volume one to volume five, but on the other hand I found it easy to pick up here, and I actually enjoyed this volume much more than volume one. Sarasa and Shuri (disguised as a monk) are participants in a race for their lives for the Blue King's amusement. Despite mouthing off to the Blue King, Sarasa is spared ... but only long enough to be made a sacrifice to the dragon god. She finds some unexpected allies and disillusions the people to what their king and their god really are. She and Shuri are briefly reunited, only to be torn apart when the city succumbs to the water from the broken dam, and Shuri is confronted with a new visage of the Blue King...

While the style used to draw the eyes is not my favorite by any means, it does fit with the overall art style which is both wispy and detailed. The characters are extremely well developed, and even minor characters are distinct — without overpowering the main characters. This volume is action-packed with some very tense scenes. Shuri gets to be heroic in the beginning (though he is acting selfishly for himself and Sarasa alone). Sarasa really gets to shine in this volume. Her feminine side gets to come out when she needs help from Shuri, but she holds her own several times against the Blue King, and ultimately helps to end his reign. Thus, Basara is maturing into the perfect shojo manga.

Even though I skipped three volumes, it is still evident that Sarasa's secret (taking over her dead brother's identity as the "Child of Destiny" to free her people) is still safe. Her realtionship with Shuri is growing (and his secret of being the Red King is still safe as well). A nice romance is blossoming, but is still tense ... especially with the reader knowing that Sarasa and Shuri are mortal enemies (though they don't know it because they keep their secret identities from each other).
