Lesson: Day 1 The family member will introduce the book If You’re Happy and You Know It to the child. The family member will show their child the front of the book, the back of the book and tell their child “The title of the book is called If You’re Happy and You Know It. In this book we will move different ways to show we are happy!” The family member will read the book to the child while stopping to look at all the pictures that are orange. Encourage your child to do the movements that are in the book. (Note: While reading to your child, follow along with your finger following the words.)Hands on: Day 1 The family member will trace the child’s hand on to a piece of copy paper in an orange crayon. The child will color their hand using an orange crayon. Together you will count the fingers while the child touches each finger.Lesson: Day 2 Using If You’re Happy and You Know It book, the family member will ask their child to show them the front of the book, the back of the book and point to the title. The family member will read the book, If You’re Happy and You Know It to their child while stopping to look at the objects that are orange. Take your child on a color walk outside your home looking for orange objects.(Note: Practice with your child turning pages of the book.)Hands on: Day 4 The child will create a smiley face by coloring the circle with an orange crayon. The child will place 2 blue dots for eyes and a black dot for a nose. The child can then draw a smile on the face using a red crayon. The child will cut brown strips of construction paper and glue it on for hair.
