NBOD virtual meeting, Aug 10, 2020

The National Board of Directors (NBoD) approved several motions from the Personnel Committee to (1) hire the National Office Manager Ms. Susan Harmon, (2) contract financial & accounting services from Tally Management Group Inc (TMG) and (3) obtain the services of the Law Firm of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LLP. NBoD is in the process of hiring the Database Administrator, Web Master, Real Estate Agent and Property Manager. NBoD approved the Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, L.L.P., as BIG's principal counsel.

The National Board of Directors continues to monitor expenses and income of the organization. This has help BIG to close the fiscal year with a net profit. Based upon the National Audit Report BIG continues to reflect a positive outlook.

The NBoD approved the following locations for the 2021 and 2022 NTI - the Gaylord Hotel in Oxon Hill, Maryland in 2021 and the Convention Center in Cleveland, Ohio in 2022.

The NBoD Strategic Planning Committee has updated and created the new 2020-2024 Strategic plan for the next 5 years. The Strategic plan will be issued this fall of 2020.

The NBoD chartered one new Chapter "the Volpe BIG chapter" (Region I)

Virtual National Delegates Assembly (NDA) August 23, 2020

There were 441 registered delegates and 42 of them were from Region V. Delegates approved the following 3 Resolutions with minor edits: BLACKS IN GOVERNMENT

SUPPORTS THE LAW ENFORCEMENT REFORM LEGISLATION INTRODUCED IN THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES BY URGING ALL CONGRESSIONAL LEADERS IN BOTH THE U.S. SENATE AND HOUSE TO SUPPORT PASSAGE OF H.R.7120, GEORGE FLOYD JUSTICE IN POLICING ACT OF 2020, 116th CONGRESS (2019-2020), BIG HONORS SARAH HAYCOX FOR SPEARHEADING EARLY LEARNING CENTER NAMED IN HONOR OF SLAIN CIVIL RIGHTS LEADER "EDWIN T. PRATT" and BIG CONDUCTS FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR EACH MEMBER IN GOOD FINANCIAL STANDING TO VOTE ON BIG NATIONAL ELECTED OFFICERS. The newly elected National Officers: President, Honorable Shirley Jones, 1st Vice President, Deena Sheppard, 3rd Vice President, Mozella Thomas, , Assistant Treasurer, Duane Hill and Secretary, Paula Davis. Region V's 2018 National Elections Process Committee: James Somerville and Veronica Sims Region V's newly elected Regional Director: Shirron Brown-Mills. The 2020 Region V inductee to the Distinguished Service Hall of Fame: Honorable Mary Watkins
