Board Treasurer – Role DescriptionThe Treasurer is a voting member of the Hibbing Chisholm Youth Hockey Association (HCYHA) Board of Directors, as well as a board officer and member of the executive committee. The Treasurer’s primary responsibility is to ensure long term financial stability and governance for the organization. As a leader of the HCYHA, the Treasurer is expected to drive positive experiences for the association’s internal and external customers including players, association members, fans, staff, coaches, visitors, and volunteers.Primary Duties and responsibilities: Ensure accurate financial records are kept for the organizationProvide financial guidance and strategy to staff and accounting firm as neededLead financial audits as necessary (external)Monitor day to day financial activity through monthly staff reportingMake or manage deposits of association moneyDraft and sign checks in the name of the associationEndorse for deposit notes and checks for the organizationReport to the association members annually on the financial activities of the organizationLead the annual budgeting process for the organizationServe as the Chair of the Finance CommitteePerform such other duties as prescribed by the Board or the Board ChairEnsure accurate monthly financial information is reported to the BoardAttend regular Board meetingPreferred Qualifications:Certified Public Accountant (preferred)Working familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesBusiness or financial management experience; executive level experienceBudget development leadershipFamiliarity non-profit finance and accountingExceptional written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skillsPrior board experience, preferably non-profitStrong affinity for business ethics and leadership courageInfluential and diplomatic Reporting Structure:The HCYHA is a 501(C) (3) non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors consisting of association volunteers.
