1. Topic sentence should:
A. Provide a smooth transition from the previous paragraph
B. Remind the reader of the opinion expressed in the thesis; this sounds like “thesis because reason”
2. Argument/Reason/Prong: specific, solitary reason that will be argued in the paragraph is defined
3. Details/Evidence/Examples/Specifics: Specific examples (perhaps from the text being analyzed) are given. Ways to shows specific details might include: names, numbers (statistics), facts, or words from the text.
4. Analysis/Explanation/Commentary/ “Bread”: Clear explanation of HOW the examples prove the topic sentence true; this is also an explanation of how the reason in the paragraph proves the thesis true.
After each paragraph, you should read it and say, “TADA!”
