Friday Reception

Join us Friday at 5:30 p.m. after the last general session to help kick-off the conference. We will enjoy the musical stylings of Martin Cruz on the keyboard and have light hors d'oeuvres during this one-hour reception. This is the perfect opportunity to meet with the vendors whose support helps make the conference possible and network with attendees and speakers who work in the field of geriatric care.

Objectives: 1) Discuss what criteria are used in making the decision about which patients to dialyze and when. 2) Review, for patients who will be starting dialysis, what best practices lead to improved outcomes. 3) Outline, when patients are not dialysis candidates, what do we expect in terms of symptoms, course of illness and palliative care.

Session: Fostering Success with Joint Replacement

Objectives: 1) Discuss specifics of older pt selection for joint replacement and timing of this intervention. 2) Review pre-operative preparation for successful TJR. 3) Review outcome data related to high quality TJR initiatives.

Objectives: 1) Describe the typical manifestations of lyme disease and other common arthropod-borne zoonoses. 2) Review the data and best practices related to diagnosis and treatment of tick-borne diseases. 3) Discuss the topic of post-lyme disease syndrome and the data useful when separating fact from fiction in this topic area.

Objectives: 1) Review current CDC guidelines regarding pain management and opiate prescribing. 2) Define current and approaching regulatory requirements. 3) Recommend best practices for helping patients with serious chronic pain.
