2008 IT mode Adapter: How to change the hard disk boot order and MAX INT device.

Starting the LSI SAS2 BIOS Configuration Utility

Use the following procedure for bringing up the SAS2 BIOS Configuration Utility:

1. Boot the system.

2. Start the SAS2 BIOS Configuration Utility by pressing CTRL+C when you see a message about the LSI Configuration Utility.

The ADAPTER LIST screen appears after the following message appears on the screen:

Please wait, invoking SAS Configuration Utility...

The ADAPTER LIST screen (Figure 7.1) appears after the system completes its power-on self test.

Enter ADATER properties and setting

In the ADAPTER LIST screen, select a SAS adapter and then press ENTER.

The ADAPTER PROPERTIES screen appears (Figure 7-2).

Selecting a Boot Disk

You can select a boot disk in the SAS TOPOLOGY screen (Figure 7.3). The next time you boot the computer, the firmware moves this disk to scan ID 0, making it the new boot disk. This makes it easier to set BIOS boot device options and to keep the boot device constant during device additions and removals. Follow the instruction to change the boot disk.

1. Select SAS TOPOLOGY and then press ENTER. The SAS TOPOLOGY screen appears (Figure 7-3).

2. Use Up and Down key to select your boot drive.

3. Press Alt + B key at the same time to select or deselect a device as preferred boot device. (Alt + M for more option screen shown in figure 7.4)

4. Save the change then exit the menu (Figure 7.9).

How to change Maximum INT 13 Device setting in adapter properties

To change device properties, use the Advanced Adapter Properties to change device and timing properties for your volume and its drives. (see Figure 7.5)

1. Select ADVANCED ADAPTER PROPERTIES. The ADVANCED ADAPTER PROPERTIES screen appears (see Figure 7.6).

2. In the ADVANCED ADAPTER PROPERTIES screen choose ADVANCED DEVICE

PROPERTIES. The ADVANCED DEVICE PROPERTIES screen appears (Figure 7.7).

3. Select Maximum INT 13 Device for this ADAPTER and press enter to change the value (Figure 7.8).

4. Save the change then exit the menu (Figure 7.9).

5. Reboot the system and enter the Motherboard bios, you will noticed the changed and bios only shown 1 boot drive now (Figure 7.9 and 7.10 shown the different before and after the changed).
