Martha Mae Foster Memorial Scholarship: $500
David Lindsey Akins Distinguished Scholar Award: $750
The Nellie Gay Fitts Scholarship was established for an incoming freshman.
The Martha Mae Foster Scholarship was established for a rising sophomore, junior or senior. The David Lindsey Akins Distinguished Scholar Award honors the student with the highest overall achievement among all applications submitted.
REQUIREMENTS
1. You must be a Boston resident, with a minimum 2.5 GPA, enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student. Applications are evaluated on the basis of scholastic achievement, leadership qualities, character, and financial need.
2. Download the application at The application form is a Word document. Write your responses after each question. We expect the application to be 2 to 3 pages.
3. If your application is chosen to receive a scholarship, you will be required to submit a signed Scholarship Agreement. Scholarship payment will be issued in the student’s name, and sent directly to the school’s Financial Aid Office. Scholarships must be applied to tuition, fees, books or technology expenses.
4. A complete application includes all the items on this checklist:
__ Transcript for 2016–2017 academic year
__ Proof of enrollment for the 2017-2018 academic year
__ Copy of Financial Aid award for 2017–2018 academic year
__ Three letters of reference that are not from relatives
__ Thoughtful and complete responses to questions in the required Application Form
__ A “friend” request to Kimball Boston on Facebook

a. The complete application must be mailed together in one package and postmarked no later than June 16, 2017. The Facebook request is also required by or before June 16, 2017. No exceptions. Kimball Scholars will be announced on July 16, 2017.
