Mental Toughness Training

Batter Up is pleased to announce that Personal Best will offer its highly touted course …... Mental Toughness Training for Peak Performance for softball players and their parents on January 30, 2013. Veteran Reading High School Baseball Coaches Pete Moscariello and Scott Farris have been recognized nationally as top mental toughness / peak performance trainers and have conducted over 100 successful workshops for college and high school athletic teams, parents, drama clubs, dance studios, school faculties, administrators, and students of all ages. Our program is designed to help players and parents to increase their chance for success in athletics, school, work, and home life.

What is Mental Toughness and Why Do Softball Players Need It?

Simply stated, Mental Toughness is the ability to perform at peak levels regardless of the circumstance and conditions. When coaches and athletes are asked what percentage of softball is “mental”, typical responses range from 75% to 95%. Yet, most athletes spend less than 10% of their training time on the mental game!

Softball players need Mental Toughness because softball is hard and presents players with frequent adversity. Personal Best will teach players how to develop a present moment focus, a positive mindset, a healthy perspective, a focus on process over outcome, and specific pre-pitch routines – all essential skills for peak performance and success.

Our program will benefit players who:

• Have had success, but need something to get them to the next level - greatness

• Need to improve confidence and/or focus

• Want to play at peak levels more consistently

• Want to play their best in pressure situations

Our instructors will teach players how to build mental toughness into their daily routine on and off the field. They will learn strategies and terminology that will lock them into focus and the present moment, with a positive mentality. Dedication to daily mental toughness programs have brought success to top college softball and baseball programs such as Alabama, TCU, UCLA, and Vanderbilt, and to MLB players, including Evan Longoria, Bryce Harper, and David Price.

"Our team experienced a great workshop with the Personal Best team of Pete Moscariello and Scott Farris. They really did a great job of engaging the athletes and supplying them with useful techniques to apply the principals they were exposed to. They truly "coached" our players during the workshop. Our guys really benefited from the time spent with Coach Moscariello and Coach Farris. You can see the guys using the routines every day in our games and practices. We expect Personal Best to be a big part of every season.”
