| |Nick thanked the board for the various activities and/or events they have participated in, and he reminded the board of | | |

|Treasurer’s Report | | |January financials |

|Golden Apple Update | | | |

| |Lauren thanked all of the sponsors for their support of Golden Apple and urged board members to thank our sponsors out in | | |

| |the community. | | |

|Foundation 4 Update – Board | | | |

|Challenge Teams |Nick asked for plans/updates/progress from the various teams in fulfilling the Board Challenge. Several preliminary plans | | |

| |were discussed with the board and upcoming event dates. | | |

| |Team 1- Mrs. Boston reported about her event, “Duct tape the Principal to the wall”. This event raised $1,300. She stated | | |

| |how much the fun the students had with this event. An upcoming shopping event on March 3rd at “A Cut Above” is scheduled. | | |

| |Also, a yard sale at Quail Hollow is scheduled for March 5th, please donate to the yard sale. | | |

| |Team 2- A “Longhorn” event is scheduled for April 19th. | | |

| |Team 4- “Dodging for Degrees” a dodgeball tournament to be held at West Port HS, youth division and adult division teams, | | |

| |March 12. Sponsorships are available and online registration is on the foundation website. | | |

| | | | |

| |Nick reminded the board that the challenge will run until the end of the fiscal year, so more events can be held and | | |

| |donations collected until June. Final numbers will be announced at the annual meeting. | | |

|Take Stock in Children Update | | | |

| |Meghan gave a synopsis of the Classic Weekend and informed the board of the success of the Sneakers n’ S’mores run with | | |

| |250 registered runners. The events raised just under $30,000 net; which when matched will equal $60,000 in scholarships. | | |

| |Also, the Tennis-a-thon raised $8,000 net; matched to $16,000 for scholarships. | | |

| |Selections are under way for the incoming class of TSIC, 154 applications for review, with 4 committee teams to review | | |

| |applications. Mr. McAteer and Mr. Rountree have joined selection teams. Interviews are being scheduled at the various | | |

| |schools, if you would like to participate, please let Judi or Meghan know. On April 26th, the surprise announcements are | | |

| |made to the students. | | |

| |Leaders 4 Life- Meghan informed the board of more details of the Leaders 4 Life program. Marion County has two Fellows! | | |

| |The Fellows receive $40,000 each to cover additional college expenses. | | |

|Program Updates |Tools for Teaching. The 20,000th shopper is a first year teacher, on her first shopping trip and she was also a Teacher To| | |

| |Be scholarship recipient! Our association with the Kids In Need Network now has a relationship with Joann’s, and we will | | |

| |be making pick-ups of donations from the Ocala and Villages stores. | | |

| |Engage in Education with guest speaker Ray McNulty, had a great turnout and participation with the community. A career | | |

| |fair and hiring fair is in the works for graduating seniors this year. | | |

| |We Are Marion-Mr. Christian gave some information about this upcoming public relations campaign. | | |

| |Annual Meeting-scheduled for 7:30 am on June 30th at the Klein Center. | | |

|Remarks from the | | | |

|Superintendent |Mr. Tomyn expressed his gratitude and thanked all involved with the Golden Apple Gala. | | |

| |Staffing plans are being worked on for the coming school year. | | |

| |Mr. Tomyn urged board members to attend the Youth Fair. | | |

| |Mr. Tomyn stated that he is often thanked and told by teachers about the grants they have received from the Foundation. | | |

| |Mr. Tomyn stated that he thoroughly enjoyed the several meetings he attended with Mr. McNulty, thanks to Engage in | | |

| |Education. | | |

|Chairperson |Mr. James expressed his disappointment in not being able to attend the Gala in person, however, he commended the video | | |

| |production department and thanked Kevin and Judi for program, which he thoroughly enjoyed in the comfort of his home. | | |

|Golden Apple Academy Update | | | |

| |Ms. Knighton was not present, so there was no report given. | | |

| |Lauren informed the board of the yearly Teachers Night Out event coming up on March 17th. | | |
