NOTICE TO BUILDING CONTRACTORS

(PUBLIC SCHOOL PROJECTS)

Yarmouth Elementary School and Frank H Harrison Middle School, Additions and Renovations, Yarmouth, ME

Brief Job Description:

The project includes construction at two of the Yarmouth School Department Schools.

The Yarmouth Elementary School the project consists of approximately 50,600 square feet of additions that includes single-story and two-story steel framed classroom additions and a gymnasium. The project also includes approximately 50,500 square feet of renovations to the existing facility, including a commercial kitchen. Project includes associated mechanical, plumbing, sprinkler, electrical and site work.

The Frank H Harrison Middle School project includes approximately 8,900 square foot two-story steel framed classroom addition. The project also includes re-roofing of school facility and miscellaneous interior renovations to the existing school. Projects include associated mechanical, plumbing, sprinkler, electrical and site work.

Bids will be opened and read aloud at the Office of the Superintendent, 101 McCartney Street, Yarmouth, ME at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. Bids received after 2:00 pm will not be considered and will be returned unopened.

A mandatory pre-bid conference for General Contractors will be held, starting at the Frank H Harrison Middle School, 220 McCartney Street, Yarmouth, ME on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 3:30 p.m. and will continue to the Yarmouth Elementary School, 121 McCartney Street, Yarmouth, ME. Attendance is required by General Contractors at both schools to bid the project. Attendance by Subcontractors is voluntary but encouraged.

General contract proposals must be accompanied by a satisfactory bid bond (00 43 13) in a similar amount. The owner reserves the right to waive all formalities, and reject any and all proposals or to accept any proposal. Proposals shall be submitted upon the form provided by the architect.

The selected general contractor will be required to furnish a 100% contract performance bond and a 100% contract payment bond to cover the execution of the work which shall be in conformity with the form of bonds contained in Section 00 61 13.13 and Section 00 61 13.16 of the specifications and for the contract amount.

Pre-Qualified General Contractors can obtain Bid Documents from Harriman, 46 Harriman Drive, Auburn, Maine 04210. Bid documents will be available to bidders no earlier than Wednesday, October 23, 2019. A deposit of $1,100.00 (two checks for $550.00 each made payable to Harriman) will be required for each complete set of plans and specifications before they are shipped. No sets will be issued until deposit is received. Bidding General Contractors and Subcontractors who return the complete sets of plans and specifications unmarked and in good reusable condition within 10 days of bid opening will receive a refund equal to one half of their deposit. All General Contractors and Subcontractors who do not bid will receive no refund of their deposit. Parties who have purchased one complete set of plans and specifications may purchase one complete matching set in pdf format for an additional, non-refundable cost of $25. Parties who have not purchased a hard copy of plans and specifications may purchase one set of documents in pdf format for a non-refundable cost of $550.00. PDF's will be issued on CD (not by e-mail – no exceptions).

AutoCAD files are available only for site work drawings for Division 31, 32, 33 that integrate with earthwork estimating software. See Section 013300 for additional requirements and forms required to receive electronic media for site.
