1) Seventeen magazine undermines teenage girls by having a lot of beauty and fashion articles that are different thinks teenage girls can do to improve their look. The magazine also includes a lot of articles about men and different male celebrities in the media and what they do, some articles written by men about women. Some of the fashion and beauty articles are written about men, and how a girl can get a boyfriend if she dresses a certain way. Seventeen will also include sections not about fashion but rather quizzes or different things with teen girls and how to interact with people or about boys. The magazine doesn’t include article about big things going on in the world, like the argument about abortions, or very few articles about sexual harassment, instead all of the articles about fashion or beauty.
2) I find that this article is written for parents and teenage girls. This is for parents because it informs them about what their teenage girls are doing and what the magazines they are reading have in them. This is also for teenage girls to realize what they are reading and what the company is doing to them. Girls do what to read the magazine because it tells them what "cool" and really different thing they can do to "improve their life.
3) I agree to the point that seventeen is unhealthy for teenage women. Its unhealthy because its exposing them to all these different images of beauty and ways to alter their looks to look like the girls used in the magazine. It is also unhealthy because it doesn’t show girls anything other than the beauty, fashion, and relationships with others.
