This report covers the time period November 1, 2005 to October 31, 2007 (except where otherwise specifically noted).

I. PROGRAMMING

a. Local Newscasts: KDFW FOX 4 schedules and airs more local news than any other television station in the State of Texas at 43 hours of original news content each week, as follows: Monday ? b. Breaking News: KDFW FOX 4's local news provides community service through consumer affairs pieces, severe weather updates, news investigations, and regular series pieces. A complete list of cut-ins and crawls is attached as Exhibit 1.

c. Local News: The station is committed to local journalism and covering local news. This includes the assignment of reporters to specific community-based beats. This includes neighborhood issues, local political candidates and topics, stories important to the different minority communities and groups and organizations working in the various communities.

The news staff primarily works from the main office in downtown Dallas. They also work from bureaus in Fort Worth (Tarrant Co.) and Carrollton (Denton ? Collin Co.). KDFW employs a diverse staff of reporters and producers to better cover the many different facets of this large market.

There are many stories aired that have had significant impact on the local community. Among the listings below include live coverage of North Texas floods from the KDFW helicopter, where helicopter personnel assisted emergency rescue teams in spotting and rescuing flood victims as the waters rose; other local stories produced in studio include:

Public Affairs Programming: KDFW FOX 4 is home to Insights, the oldest public affairs show in Dallas-Fort Worth. The weekly show (aired on Sundays at 8 a.m.) is a blend of news, information and entertainment, addressing issues and concerns of the community, particularly communities of color. Following are examples of stories covered over the past two years: ? Veterans Stand Down ? A look at the plight of 26-million

veterans in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. At least 1/3 of them are alone and homeless ? Remembering Rosa Parks ? The woman known as the Mother of the Civil Rights movement dies. Most people remember her because she refused to give up her seat on the bus to a White man. That incident sparked the Birmingham Bus Boycott ? Native American Heritage Month Celebration ? Highlighted a program at the Fort Worth Public Library saluting Native American custom, culture and heritage ? Diabetes ? November is Diabetes Awareness Month. More than 20-million Americans are now diabetic. Sharon Cox, a dietitian with the Parkland Health and Hospital System and a supporter of the American Diabetes Association talks about the importance of diet in preventing and controlling diabetes

In response to the growing drug crisis among teenagers involving a deadly type of heroin called "cheese," FOX 4 partnered with the Greater Dallas Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse to produce an anti-drug PSA featuring local high school students. The PSI campaign received wide acclaim and was aired on Spanish language stations across the state. FOX 4 received a special award for the initiative from the Greater Dallas Council, and the Texas Attorney General announced plans to take the campaign statewide.

III. PARTICIPATION IN COMMUNITY

Communicating with the community is an ongoing mission for KDFW FOX 4. Contact with special interest groups is a regular part of the station's operation. FOX 4 News reaches out to community members with hundreds of personal appearances by staff members every year. News personnel speak with a wide variety of groups and organizations and frequently return with story ideas. Input is solicited in KDFW's newscasts and website, and ideas and opinions are sought from the community via telephone, email and letters. In addition, field crews have daily contact with members of the community and organizations, a rich source of information and ideas for future programming.

Additionally, FOX 4 News staff members have deep roots in the community, and are constantly bringing in story ideas from fellow parents, church members, sports teammates, neighbors, etc. For several years, FOX4 News has invited the public to express opinions via forums such as Viewers Voice, Tell it to Tim, and What's Buggin You. Viewers' comments are used both on the air and as a source of story ideas.

IV. INTERNET

streams KDFW's 8 a.m. and noon weekday newscasts. During significant news events, or storm coverage, extended coverage is also streamed. The website provides an ongoing stream of live Doppler radar. During significant news events or storm coverage, the website utilizes chat rooms in which users can watch coverage and share information. Periodically, chat rooms are hosted by experts, newsmakers and on-air talent. The blogging community is robust and on-air talent regularly blog to inform users about upcoming or current stories; sharing additional details about news items; relating personal experiences; message boards are utilized in the same manner. One message board is dedicated to updating programming information, such as schedule changes.

The WAP site () allows users to utilize mobile devices to stay up-to-date on news and weather.
