Safe Medications for Pregnancy and Lactation

As a general rule, no drugs should be taken during pregnancy unless the benefit of that medication is significant. This includes over the counter medications as well as prescription drugs. There is no drug that we can guarantee to be safe. This is especially true in the first trimester of pregnancy. Most medications cross the placenta and many are excreted in breast milk.
