Apply ice and compression wrap immediately after injury is sustained. Ice 3 to 4 times daily for 20 minutes. Anti-Inflammatory medication may help (Ibuprofen, Advil, etc.) Never apply heat to a sprain or strain within the first 48-72 hours after the injury is sustained.
