Holy Week Prayer

We have set our feet upon the road to Jerusalem

Holy is the time and holy is this place.

O Holy One, cast your net among us.

With a cool smooth finger, You placed ash upon our foreheads.

Give us the peace, O God, to hear your word

With the remnant of that ash still burning in our hearts.

Give us the trust to know we are forgiven.

Give us the courage to take up our lives – and

walk, As you walked in prayer and in pain.

O God, claim us as your disciples. Bless us now,

And touch us with your holiness that we might have love enough

To touch the hem of your garment and be healed;

Commitment enough to take up our crosses and endure;

Faith enough to kneel with Mary at the foot of the cross.

Our eyes fixed upon you – and the miracle of

forgiveness.

On our pilgrim journey through our own Jerusalem, Lord,

Give us the knowledge to know that from the very mud

Upon which we stand, the lily springs to life.

A new resurrection blooms.

Bring us, O God, to Easter Morning, a people without doubt;

With His name upon our lips, His promise in our lives,

And your holy word written upon the Morning

Star –

Let our hearts be filled with the Everlasting Light of Dawn;

And let us walk in this world always reflecting that Morning Star:

The sacrificial Lamb of God. Our Lord. Jesus, forever with us.

Each and all.
