The ministry is now seeking comments from British Columbians.Guidance for Using Non-potable Ambient Water for Domestic Purposes in British ColumbiaThis comment form addresses contents of the Guidance for Using Non-potable Ambient Water for Domestic Purposes in British Columbia. The guidance document was prepared to support officials responsible for issuing permits under the Drinking Water Protection Act to water supply systems using non-potable water from ambient sources for domestic purposes. Non-potable water, for the purposes of this document, includes all water from an ambient source – i.e., fresh water from a surface water or ground water source – that does not meet the definition for potability as per the Drinking Water Protection Act. Non-potable water has more inherent risk than potable water for domestic purposes. This guidance is a first step to providing provincial guidance with respect to non-potable water. It does not provide specific guidance related recycled water (e.g., reclaimed water and grey water) or rain water.Providing CommentsThe Ministry of Health welcomes all comments. It will review them as the guidance document is refined. All comments will be reviewed for inclusion without attribution in a consultation summary report, after the consultation period is finished. Please note that any comments you provide, and information identifying you as the comments’ source, may be made publicly available if a Freedom of Information request is made under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.Consultation Questions: Guidance for Using Non-potable Ambient Water for Domestic Purposes in British Columbia 1.Purpose, ScopeThe purpose and scope, as well as regulatory framework, for the guidance are described in pages 1-2 of the document.Do you have any suggestions or comments regarding the purpose and scope of the guidelines?
