Identify the sequence of events in the novel (PLOT)

Identify what each character represents

Literary Terms

The examination will include questions dealing with the definitions, examples, and application of the following literary terms:

CHARACTERIZATION

IMPLY – understand secondary meanings of quotations or meanings that are not directly stated in the text

SYMBOLISM and SYMBOLS: understand the meanings of the following objects:

the fire, the conch, dazzle paint, the beast, huts, the scar, spectacles, the knife

IMAGERY: identify examples of the several different types of Imagery

NOTE: A particular emphasis of the exam will to examine the literary terms as they apply to the novel Lord of the Flies.

ACT English

The examination will contain multiple and various aspects of the STOP/GO strategy.

Students should be able to:

identify complete and incomplete ideas

define a sentence

memorize and identify the different types of punctuation

differentiate between STOP and GO punctuation.

choose the correct punctuation for given ACT questions
